This one is gonna be short. Sorry it's a day late I was busy yesterday.

Lily's POV

It's been a week since we did those muggle things. A week since I could have kissed him, but I didn't. I'm still wondering what could have happened if I did.

It's also been a day since we got back to school and I'm already piled up on homework. It's only going to get worse in seventh year. Just great.

I walk down to dinner on our second night back with Marlene, the others already there. We push open the great hall doors, and head to our usually seats at the end of the Gryffindor table.

"Hey guys." Alice says.

"Hey." Marlene sits down and starts to shovel some food on her plate.

"Did you hear?" Alice says looking down at a piece of paper.

"No what is it?" I ask curiously.

"Death eaters attack. Dunno where'll but it was a muggle family, two dead."

"Anyone escape?" James asks.

Alice shakes her head. "Doesn't -"

She's cut off suddenly by Professor Mcgonagal, who taps me on the shoulder.

"Ms. Evans can I talk to you for a minuet?"

I nod and stand up following her out of the great hall.

She leads me over to a staircase and she tells me to sit down.

"I'm sure you have heard about the recent muggle killing?" Mcgonagal says after a moment of silence.

"Uh, yeah but what-" realization suddenly dawns on me. "Why- no that's not- what!" I say, tears threatening to spill.

"No lily, your parents are fine, but it was in your neighborhood. The family next door to you are the ones that were attacked."

I nod. "Who? Who was it?"

"The Zimons."

Tears brim my eyes. Even though the Zimons are not my family, I've known them sense I was born. There daughter is my closest friend.

"Who, who were the ones that were-" I choke on my own words.

"The mother and daughter, the father was on a business trip. I'll go get Miss. McKinnon for you."

I nod in thanks.

A couple minuets later, Someone sits down next to me. Thinking its Marlene I lay my head on 'her' shoulder, eyes closed.

"Mcgonagal told us what happened. I'm sorry Lils. I can't imagine what it would be like to loose family, or well close friends. Loosing Sirius would probably destroy me." A very masculine voice says as they wrap their arm around my shoulder.

Wait that isn't Marlene. I open my eyes and look up, hazel eyes stare back into my green ones.

I smile up at James. "Thank you." I whisper. I lean up kissing him on the cheek, and quickly rest my head back on his shoulder.

I feel him stand up. Scared that I frightened him, I look up at him confused. He places an arm around my back and the other under my legs. He picks me up bridal style smiling at me.

"Come on, you seem tired." I nuzzle my head into his chest as he carries me up the stairs. His arms are big and comforting. I feel like I belong here. With him, and I regret pushing down my feelings for so long. We enter the Gryffindor common room and he puts me down on the couch, knowing that guys can't go up the girls dormitory stairs. He stands up, but I quickly grab his hand trying to pull him down with me.

He shakes his head and sighs. "Lily, I can't."

There it is! I hope you like it! Next update will be on time. Sorry I was at the hospital visiting my baby brother.
