I was in my cabin, sitting in the closet with my laptop, seeing as it was always necessary to be extra safe when it came to breaking the rules here. No flaunting it like I did back at school.

I was checking my emails, when a chat pops up as someone's talking to me. I look down, expecting to see Ronni, even though she hasn't talked to me since I got here, but I'm surprised by seeing Kylie's name.

Kylie: Joelle? You there?
Joelle: Yeah. What's wrong?
Kylie: Why would anything have to be wrong for me to talk to my older sister?
Joelle: Because I'm betting Mom and Dad banned you from talking to me and you need to keep up the good girl image for them.
Kylie: Fine. You have a point. And yes, something is wrong. You happy?
Joelle: How can I be happy if my sister isn't? What's wrong? Spill.

I suddenly realized how great it was that I was talking to Kylie again. I hadn't noticed how much I had missed her since I had been gone. I hadn't been the greatest older sister, so I was always really glad that she still loved me and looked up to me.
Kylie: It's about Spencer.
Joelle: That guy you're dating?
Kylie: Was dating. The guy I was dating.
Joelle: Holy shit, ya'll broke up?
Kylie: Caught him macking with another girl, so yeah, we broke up.
Joelle: No freaking way. Child, I hope you told him where to shove it.
Kylie: Actually, I told him that no girl would ever let him shove it anywhere.
Joelle: HA! You own, sista!
Kylie: Yeah :) But what about you? Tell me about the people there.
Joelle: Here they're big on you being only with your roommates. Actually I only know one girl besides my roommates. Her name's Cassie and she's a slut with a capital S.
Kylie: So what's the deal with your roommates then?
Joelle: Well, there's the twins: Dylan and Ryan.
Kylie: Wait, isn't it a girls camp?
Joelle: Yes, Dylan and Ryan are girls.
Kylie: Oh. Okay, continue.
Joelle: Dylan's the toughie who pierced my nose, but inside she's such a softie. Ryan's the clever one and right now she's having a little bit of trouble, going to the on-site therapist here. Then there's Emma-Lynn, who's dating Dylan. I used to think she's a bitch, but actually, she's sweet and the outer layer is mostly because of her crazy judgmental parents. And then, finally, there's Kyla, who's been through every form of parent-school-life-love crap that there is. Apparently, she used to have a thing with one of the counselors here.
I felt so easy, talking to her. I could just say whatever I wanted and she's automatically understand. i wanted to talk to her though, face to face. Because of our parents, I probably wouldn't get the chance though. So this was the only chance I got.
Kylie: With one of the counselors?! Naughty.
I almost laughed out loud.
Joelle: Yeppers. That's our Kyla. I'm really confused by her nowadays though. She has these crazy mood swings and you never know what's going to happen with her.
I felt like we talked for ages, but before you know it...
Kylie: Ack! I gotta go, dude. Mom's calling me. Next visitation, I'll try and convince the 'rents to let me come.
Joelle: That'd be awesome. See you! :)

"Dude, you spent like half an hour in there. What's up?" Kyla commented as I closed my laptop and walked out of the closet.
"I was talking to my sister."
"That's awesome." Kyla grinned and I suddenly felt guilty about spilling all that crap behind her back even though it was only to my sister, and I hadn't really said anything bad. I mean, Kyla had gone through so much already and I had to really try to be a good friend.
"Kyla, can I ask you about something?"
"Sure."
"Samuel Moore." I blurted and then immediately regretted it. I stared at Kyla, who's soul seemed to fall apart behind her eyes.
"Actually, Kyla, I'm not gonna say anything. I'm sorry, it's your business."
"No!" she stopped me as I was getting up. "I should tell you. You're my friend, you deserve to know."
She took a deep breath and then said: "Samuel happened so quickly that had I stopped and looked at what I was doing, it would have never happened. But I hadn't seen. I had just gone with it and I let it get too far. Then I got scared and backtracked. I'll tell you one thing though. There's no way that's ever happening again. But...how did you find out?"
"Just the way Samuel acts around you. He really doesn't want to look at you sometimes and then other times he can't get his eyes off you."
Kyla sighed. "I really don't know how Samuel's feeling, but there's no way I can talk to him again. I wouldn't be able to stand it. He really changed life for me, and I can't go back."

"What's that buzzing?" Commented Emma-Lynn. All of us shut up to listen.
"Ah, shit, that's my phone." I leapt over my bed and picked up my phone.

"Hello?"
"Joelle?"
"Ronni?" I exclaimed and all of my roommates turned to look at me.
"Hey, listen, sorry about not calling or emailing earlier."
"Ronni, it's been a month."
"I know, I know. I've been a little anxious. How is it over there?"
"It's great, actually. I feel great without the 'rents."
"But it sucks without me, right?"
I laughed, but didn't answer, because my answer wasn't what she wanted. Truthfully, I missed Ronni a little, but I was fine here without her.
"So, have you been ruining Sanders' life for me, Ronni?"
"Hell yes." she laughed. "I messed with the projector in the lobby, so instead of the slideshow of school pictures, it shows a little something different."
"Lemme guess, a horror flick?"
"No, a nudie film."
I burst into laughter.

"Emma-Lynn, I'm not your booty call!"
"I know that! Why are you freaking out?"
"Because if you do not want this to go anywhere, then I don't want this to continue."
"How did we get to this conversation, Dylan? What do you mean I don't want this to go anywhere. I do!"
"No, you don't, Emma-Lynn. All you want is to have a physical relationship and I'm not up for that. I'm not Cassie."
Emma-Lynn gasped, but Dylan continued. "I thought we were more than that, Emma-Lynn. But apparently not."
I felt awful as I heard Dylan walk away. How could that be the end? Emma-Lynn and Dylan were meant for each other. I sat on my bed, alone, just thinking and thinking. Until Emma-Lynn walked in, sobbing.

"Emma-Lynn, you okay?" I asked, even though the answer was obvious.
She shook her head.
"You wanna talk?"
She shook her head once again. I leaned over and hugged her as she sobbed into my shoulder.
"Dylan.." she choked.
"I know, honey, I know."
"You were right. I really like her. But I couldn't tell her...I just couldn't."
"It's okay, honey." I squeezed her tight as she cried and cried and cried.
