Author's Note -

I know that in my last chapter I said I'd need 5 votes to post the next chapter, but I was bored and I didn't really expect those votes anyway. I would've loved it if I GOT those votes, but *sigh*, never mind on that idea. Here's chapter twenty-six!

Joelle's POV

After Ryan’s weird rejection, the car was silent. We knew that we were the ones, initially, to blame, because we were the ones who had let her down and left her there. But it was still an odd thing to hear Ryan, who we had always subconsciously believed to be weaker than us, to be strong enough to go out on her own and leave her sister and best friends to themselves.

“Where are we going to stay?” Dylan voiced, obviously trying to distract us and change the subject. It worked.

I whipped my head around. “You’re right. We have nowhere to go.” I turned back to look at Trouble. “We can’t stay with Kyla, her apartment’s probably tiny. Plus, didn’t she want to see us to get away from her family for a little while?”

“Besides,” Emma-Lynn snorted. “Who would want us around their kid?”

We were silent again and then I spoke to Trouble. “So, Allison Sweetwaters, where are we going to get our IDs?”

Trouble grinned. “Let’s just say, I’ve got a few spares.” She tossed me her wallet. “Pick your favorite.”

Inside her wallet, I found a little pink packet in which were seven credit cards, all under different names.

“I don’t even wanna know why you have these.” I shook my head, incredulously, and settled on a credit card with the name Amy Callaway. I gave the rest to Dylan and Emma-Lynn to take their pick.

Eventually, Dylan settled on Avery Hall and Emma-Lynn went with Anisa Habersham.

“Why do all of them start with A?” Dylan asked, handing over the remaining credit cards. Trouble shrugged.

“I wasn’t in a very creative mood when I got them done.”

“But, Trouble,” I protested. “Where is the money coming from?”

She shrugged like it was no big deal. “I got them somehow connected into a company’s bank account. It’s the expense account for their employees, I think, and there are so many employees that they won’t even notice.”

“So, basically, we’re robbing a major company?” I concluded.

“Yep.” Trouble winked. “Welcome to the high life, baby.”

“So that’s it now.” Emma-Lynn murmured, speaking for the first time after a long while of silence. “We’re full on criminals now.”

“Yeah.” Dylan agreed, quietly.

“Hey, it’s either this or going back to Parker’s.” I said, firmly. “We were never innocent to begin with, you guys. You don’t really think you were, do you? We were always criminals at heart. We always were inclined to break the rules and the law. The only difference is now we don’t have to pretend.”

Kylie’s POV

“She what?” My mom screamed into the phone. I cringed at her shrieking tone. I could hear the person on the other line trying to soothe her.

“No, I will not calm down! You tell me that my daughter ran away?”

My eyes widened. What now? I snuck a little closer so I could see her.
