Jungkook had been in the hospital for three weeks. The doctor's explained that his voice was an unknown factor and they didn't know when it would return. In compensation, he was given a small leather notebook and marker to communicate.Aside from that, he had trouble walking properly and was undergoing physical therapy for it. He looked at his back through the mirror in the bathroom. It was wound tightly in gauze, red stains peeking out through the cloth. It wasn't that he regretted his decision to protect Namjoon, but what bothered him was why it felt to natural. It was like his body instinctively protected the other without any conscious thought. After all, he was the first one to notice the drunk driver as he barreled towards the bus. His sudden warning had given the other just enough time to get down low to avoid any serious injury to their bodies. Rap Monster on the other hand didn't have enough time to react, so Jungkook did what first came to his mind. Protect him. The Maknae quickly dismissed the issue and wrote it off as nothing. Just as he exited the bathroom, he heard a knock at the door.
"Kookie?" he heard a voice say "Are you awake?"
Jungkook recognized Namjoon's immediately. He first wrote something down in his notebook then opened the door and smiled, "Good morning, hyung!"
The leader had gotten used to the one way conversations over time, as much as it shocked him in the beginning "Good Morning Jungkook, are you hungry? I brought some more food from Jin, I swear he made enough food to feed all of Busan."
The younger laughed, he enjoyed having Namjoon as company. After all, he was the only member allowed to visit on a daily basis still under the guise as 'boyfriend'. When Jungkook found out he blushed so much that his whole face felt red. Ever since the accident, Namjoon had been caring for him day after day. He would give him food, home made by the Jin, inform the younger about anything funny that had happened in the dorm that day, and even bring him his drawing materials for when he was bored. Whatever he needed, the leader would always bring without question, he was really supportive.
He turned the page of his notebook and wrote "Well then, you're going to have to help me eat all this delicious food from Jin-hyung, wouldn't want it to go to waste."
As if on cue, Namjoon's stomach growled loudly, the older blushed in embarrassment "I-i guess I am k-kinda hungry."
And so, they both pulled up a chair on opposite sides of the wooden table near the window of the room. Rapmonster opened the container of food at set it on the table, the Maknae felt his mouth water. Jin had prepared his favorite food, lamb skewers and rice with soup. They prayed their thanks before happily digging in on the feast before them.
While eating, the younger wrote "How has everyone been? The hyungs I mean."
He older swallowed the remands of food I'm his mouth before replying "They're alright, I mean, of course they're all still worried sick about you, but I've been keeping them informed. V constantly dotes on J-Hope now, he took your hospitalization the worst. But I don't think Hobi minds, he's been helping Tae cope."
"I see.." wrote Jungkook. Before the accident, V and him were very close friends. They would always hang out together after practices at their favorite restaurant. While there they would joke around with one another, talk about their lives as of then, and that included love interest. Like him, V was also a submissive gay. The last time they talked, Taehyung couldn't stop talking about Hoesok's bad habit of messing up his clothes. Even though it sounded like V was scolding the older, Jungkook knew it was just an excuse to talk about him. It was a crush that would hopefully grow into something more.

"The concert was really a success, although when ARMY found out what happened to you, they freaked out. I think the poor girls nearly passed out. Jimin did his best to cover your lines, but I don't he did nearly as well as you can." He added with a smile as RapMonster continued eating
The Maknae stopped eating and put his hand on his throat. He would be lying if he said he wasn't worried about his voice. His greatest fear was that he wouldn't be able to sing again. Never be able to be with his hyungs again on stage. It was something that weighed heavy on his chest all the time.mThe leader noticed his hesitation and comforted him by saying "Don't worry Kookie, I'm sure your voice will come back any day now. I promise."
Jungkook smiled and wrote in his notebook "Thank you."
After a few bites, Namjoon decided to clear the air and asked Jungkook "Can you please pass the soy sauce? It's there next to my bag behind you."
The younger nodded and reached for the container behind him, however he ended up knocking over the bag instead, spilling the contents across the floor. Jungkook instantly went on his knees and prepared to pick up what he had knocked over. Then, his eyes hovered over the books that has been scattered on the ground. "How to Cure Voice Loss", "All you Need to Regain your Voice", "Speaking the Words You've Lost." They were all on various techniques based on the same thing, getting your voiceback. There were pieces of paper inside the books, notes about main points of the chapters. Small sticky notes were also attached to the inside covers that read things like: "Remember to visit Jungkook after dance practice" or "Bring new clothes for Jungkook so he doesn't have to wear hospital gown he hates." Then it sunk in, they were for him. Namjoon was doing these things for him.
The older got up from his seat. "H-hey! it's okay, I can get tho-" his gaze rested on the younger who was holding up one of the books to his face. He was hoping to keep it a secret so the Maknae wouldn't worry, but it was too late, the cat was out of the bag."I'm sorry I didn't tell you, but I knew you would feel guilty if you found out...."
Jungkook looked at the ground. He couldn't bring himself to look the older in the eyes. He took his notebook out and wrote "You really... take time out of your busy day. Spend hours you could use for yourself, take notice of all the little things, place this burden on yourself. For...Me?"
The younger didn't know how to react. No one had ever been more thoughtful, so caring, so dependable to Jungkook than Namjoon. It was a kindness that he knew he would never be able to return. He was just so touched by all the thought the older had put into seeing him everyday. He knew the schedules were packed with work with very little break in between. So for him to give up that small window of freedom...
Namjoon sighed and extended his hand to help the Maknae to his feet "Of course. You saved my life, Jungkook. I quite literally owe you for whole lifetime and am so thankful. It's not just because I'm indebt to you though, it's because I care about you." The leader looked him, eyes full of sincerity "I know now is not the time for a relationship in your life, but I just need you to know that you are in no way, shape, or from a burden. Kookie...I..lov-" he stopped himself.
No. No he couldn't say it. As much as he truly felt that way about the younger, he couldn't bring himself to say it yet. Not until he got Jungkook's voice back. Not a second sooner.
"Hyung?" Wrote the younger in concern. What was he going to say? The suspense was killing him. To his surprise, the leader didn't respond in words, but in action. Namjoon delicately moved Jungkook's bangs from his face and kissed his forehead.
"I have so many things to tell you," began the older "So many feelings I want to share, but I can't. Not yet. Not until I do what I promised to do."
So many thoughts were zooming in the Maknae's head, he wasn't sure how to react. It was all happening so fast that he wasn't sure how to keep up. What did he meant 'not yet'? Was there something wrong? Wrong with him?
"Do you trust me?" Asked Rap Monster in a deep tone, his eyes meeting Jungkook's  "Do you trust me to get your voice back? It may take some time, but I promise I'll.."
It was Jungkook's turn to calm the leader. He put his hand in a 'shh' motion over Namjoon's lips. He could sense the truth in the older a words..the pure sincerity and guilt. And so without further thought, the Maknae wrote:
"I trust you, I always have. It's okay, I'll wait for however long it takes. I trust you, hyung, I really do."

That was just the beginning. The beginning of a beautiful relationship that would eventually bud and sprout something neither of them thought they would get to share. Love. They were beginning to Love.
