Chapter Twenty Four

………………………

~Brielle’s POV~

The darkness held me captive… it was empty and cold. I couldn’t feel anything or go anywhere. I was just trapped inside my head.

“Brielle” Niall’s voice echoed, “Brielle, wake up”…..

My eyes fluttered open, revealing Niall’s worried glare. I took a deep breath, remembering that it was a dream, a bittersweet dream, but just a dream. My eyes were still foggy, trying to adjust to the bright light in my white hospital room, I gently rubbed them, and for some reason, my skin was moist…

“Are you okay?” Niall asked worriedly

“Yeah, why?” I said, wiping away the remaining moisture and siting up.

“You were crying in your sleep… What were you dreaming about?” he asked as he sat on the bed next to me and pulled me into his chest, “Are you alright?”

“Yeah, I just… it was a sad dream” I sighed, “I don’t really want to talk about it though”

“Well, alright, but if you do, you know who to come to” he smiled and kissed my forehead

“What time is it?” I muttered

“It’s about seven, our jet leaves at eight so we better get going” he said

“Where is everyone else?” I asked

“Already waiting for us at the airport” he said

“Did you guys leave me clothes to change into?” I asked

“Yup, right there” he said, motioning towards the far edge of the bed, “Get dressed and then we’ll head out”

“Mhmmkay” I mumbled, slowly getting on my feet and grabbing on to Niall for balance. I weakly strolled over to the clothes and picked them up.

“Here, let me get that” he said as he took the clothes from my hand and placed them on the counter in the bathroom, “Do you need help getting in the bathroom?”

“I think I can handle it” I smiled, “It’s only a few feet away”

“You’ve been in bed for a while though, it might take time for you to be able to walk comfortably again” he sighed

“Don’t worry” I reassured him as I continued

“Are you sure?” he asked nervously, “You seem off balance”

“I think so” I said

Apparently I spoke too soon, the second I tried to let go of him, I fell, but luckily Niall was there to catch me before I hit the ground. He caught me in his arms the way a dancer would dip someone during a slow dance, swift and gracefully.

“Let me help you” he said, returning me to an upright position, “It’s okay to ask for help, you’re weak right now”

“I know, I just… I don’t want to bother you…” I admitted

“What’s bothering me is watching you struggle when I’m able to help you” he smiled

I smiled sheepishly before nodding, “Okay… Niall, will you please help me get into the bathroom?”

“Of course, beautiful” he said, sweeping me off my feet as if I were weightless.

He carried my smoothly into the bathroom and set me down gently on my feet, his hands never leaving my side as he steadied me.
