Thump. Thump. Thump. My heart pounded in my chest to the point that I could hear it in my head. Dominic held onto my hand tight, scared that he would not make it to see the sun ever again. I sent up a small prayer that Dominic could keep up with me, he was not able to keep up with. I managed to slow my pase. I took a risk and glanced back at him. His face was so covered in sweat, looked as if he had just stepped out of the sweat house. The panic on his face was vivid that I did not want to turn back around and see what he saw. A black wolf with one white spot on its’ upper right chest burst out of the thick shrubs to the right. My only thought was to get my best friend out of these woods and get him to safe ground. That means getting pass Malachi. He stood on all four legs in the middle of the path, there was no way to get pass him so I had to stop, Dominic followed my led, and put on brakes. The bleak black eyes of the wolf darted from me, my hand interlocked with Dominic’s, and back up to Dominic’s face. The anger flashed across the wolf’s face like lighting. A thunderous growl escaped out the mouth of the black wolf and the flash of fangs was all I seen before the next thing I was looking at was the wolf snapping fangs in Dominic’s face. Malachi had Dominic pinned to the ground, Dominic had no where to go. At that moment I realized that I may lose my best friend forever, but I would rather him be alive and scared of me and maybe even hate me for what I was. I knew what I had to do. I brought the heat of the beast, and let the power explode over every inch of my body. The heat was excruciating, the power of the beast broke my bones and expanded them for the body of my wolf.
