Paige's POV
I had been home for a week now. Since my mom was the management they agreed to give me and the boys two weeks off. The other boys went to visit family, but Nathan actually stayed with me. We went to Lucy's funeral and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It was a small funeral but my grandma came. Which made me really happy. She told me my grandpa was lonely in heaven so god wanted Lucy. I didn't look at her death as such a tragic thing anymore.
"Your family really loves you" Nathan said one night while we were laying out on the back porch. I just smiled at him.
"Hey Nath can I show you something?" I ask. He gives me a look of confusion but agrees. I grabbed his hand and we walked across the street to this private property but my parents knew the owner so it was okay.
I told him to close his eyes and he obeyed. I ran over and plugged a cord in. I smiled. It still worked, "Okay open" I whispered. His mouth hung open. It was this huge tree with so many braches. But there were twinklling lights. Tears began to well up in my eyes.
"Paige, what is this? It's beautiful" Nathan said pulling me into him. I wiggled out of his grasp and walked a little closer. A million memories flooding back to my mind.
"I used to have a neighbor. We were best friends. He was 3 years older than me, our parents used to joke about us growing older and getting married. This was our tree. Whenever our parents were mad at us or we were sad about something we'd always come here and just star at our tree. We started dating when I was 12 he was 15. Most people made fun of us. But we didnt care, we cared so much about people. I dated him for 5 years." Tears were flowing now. I walked up to the tree and put my hand on a craving of both our names.
"What happened? Where is he now?" Nathan asked walking up behind me, I removed my hand from the carving and walked over to a secret dug out we used to hide in. I laid in it. Nathan came over with his mouth hung open.
"Luke?" Was all he said. I nodded my head.
"But its not what you think. I lied before. Luke didn't cheat on me, he died last year. I thought it'd make things easier to just pretend he had cheated rather than actually leaving me. And my grandpa didn't give me those puppies Luke did. He was in the hospital for a really long time. A drunk driver crashed into him one night while he was walking over to my house. He was in a coma but once he woke up he had serious brain damage. He only rememebered his dad and me. He died three days later. it was our 5 year annerversary. I haven't cried about it in so long, I didn't you or the boys because I was too weak. I'm still in love with him Nathan.." I looked down. Knowing that what I just said could jepordize our relationship.
"I don't care, I'll wait for you Paige, just like you waited for me" i looked up and he kissed me. He laid down next to me and asked to me share some good memories of Luke and I.
"One time I dared him to kiss this old lady that lived next door and he went up to her house and they talked for a really long time. Eventually he kissed her cheek and he came back with a huge smile on his face. I asked him why he was smiling like that and all he did was kiss me on the lips really hard. IT was amazing, I wasn't expecting it which made it even better. Then we came here and danced while our favorite song played. That's the first year we dated. Our parents would actually take us out to eat and leave us to our own tables. It was so cute. I miss him so much, It wasn't fair because I didn't even get to go to his funeral my parents were really weird about it. I hated them forever but found out that they just were protecting me. It turned out Luke didn't just die, his heart died but his body still lives." With that i closed my eyes and felt this weird feeling. All I remember was Nathan crying, calling my name.
