April's POV

I was running after the ball, giving my best to win the match. I had never been good at volleyball but this was was for our grade, so I was doing the best I could.

I jumped, my knee hurting as I landed back on my feet.

"Are you alright?" My best friend Emely asked. I guessed she must have seen the pained expression on my face.

"Yeah, yeah, no problem." I smiled at her.

The match went on, and our team was winning. My knee was still hurting but I was trying to forget about it, as I thought it would just go away eventually, as usually.

The ball was flying right above me and I jumped high to reach it. When I landed, an excruciating pain rushed through my knee and up my spine. I fell on the floor and my vision started to blur from the pain. Everything went black for a few seconds.

"April? APRIL!" I felt somebody shaking my shoulders, and when I opened my eyes I saw Em.

"Yeah, I can hear you. Stop yelling in my ears." I groaned, squinting my eyes.

"Oh my god, you scared me. What happened? Are you alright?" She questioned, a look of concern on her face.

A small crowd had started building itself around me. "Ehm, I don't really know... My knee. It hurts... Really bad..."

"Okay. Can you sit up?" She asked.

I slowly sat up, trying to have as little weight as possible on my right knee. Em half pulled, half carried me to the side of the gym, until I could sit up against the wall.

I sighed, resting my head on the wall and closing my eyes for a second. The teacher crouched down in front of me. "Are you gonna be alright?" She asked.

"Uhm, yeah. Just give me a second."

At the end of the lesson, Em and I decided to head to the emergency room at the hospital to have somebody check my knee.

I struggled a bit getting there, hopping on one feet and leaning on Em. But we arrived eventually and walked trough the front door, up to the lady at the desk.

She looked up at me and smiled. "Name?" She asked. "April Tames."

"Age?" She went on with her questions. "16" I answered patiently as she typed the informations into her computer.

"Problem?" She looked back up at me. "I fell and my knee hurts really bad."

"She blacked out for a few seconds." Em interjected. The woman at the desk raised a brow but didn't comment.

"Thank you, you may now wait in the waiting room." She handed me some crutches.

We thanked her and sat down in the waiting room, mentally preparing ourselves for a long wait.

"I should probably call my parents." I stated. Em nodded and I grabbed my phone. I called my mom, and she arrived 15 minutes later.

"April! Are you alright? What happened?" She bombarded me with questions as soon as she walked in through the doors.

"Hey mom. I'm alright, my knee just hurts a bit. No need to worry." I reassured her.

A nurse walked in about 20 minutes later. "April Tames?" My hand shot up. "Yes?"

"The Doctor is now ready for you. Please follow me." I got up and followed her into a small room. I sat down on the clean paper sheet and shook the doctor's hand.

He made me twist my leg in different angles and scribbled down some notes in this unreadable doctor-handwriting. His face had the professional unreadable doctor-expression.

I ended up doing different scans and going home with no answers as to what happened to my knee but with an appointment for the next day, when the results to my scans would be available.
