Later that day, mom came to the hospital and sent Luke home, but he promised to be back today.
Mom was worried and I hated seeing her like this. Dad came back later too, but they both had to leave for the night.
I had puked twice this night and almost didn't get any sleep.
I averted my gaze to the left when I heard the sound of a door opening. In the door frame was standing Luke, half hidden behind a huge flower bouquet. "Thought this room needed some color." He explained.
I laughed, but quickly regretted it as it turned into coughing. Luke smiled sympathetically and set the flowers on the table near the window. "How are you? Feeling any better?"
"Not really."
"Good that I brought something to make the time pass faster than." He looked way to enthusiastic as he pulled the movie "Mean Girls" out of his backpack.
I couldn't help but chuckle. "Seriously?"
He looked offended. "Don't you dare judge mean girls."
"I would never."
Luke prepared the movie and walked over to the side of my bed. "Mind if I join you in there?"
As an answer, I wiggled over to one side of the bed to leave him some space. Luke laid down next to me, but his feet were dangling over the edge. "Too big." He stated.
"No wonder skyscraper." I chuckled.
It was nice watching a movie with Luke, even though I fell asleep at about half of it. It somehow didn't feel awkward at all, even though we were lying in the same bed.
When I woke up again, Luke was sitting at the table, eating a sandwich.
"You should eat something too. The doctor said you're loosing too much weight."I nodded. "I can try, but it'll probably all come up anyway."
"I can go get you some crackers." Luke offered.
"That would be nice, thank you."
When he came back, I tried eating the crackers but after only two of them, I felt a wave of nausea overcoming me.
I quickly stood up and pushed the covers of off me, rushing towards the bathroom. I leaned over the toilet, throwing up as Luke held my hair and rubbed my back.
When I was finally done, I fell back, leaning against the wall and closed my eyes. Luke picked me up and carried me back to my bed.
I soon fell back asleep, and the next time I woke up, Luke was gone but mom and Em were sitting at the table.
As soon as she saw I was awake, Em came to the side of my bed. "April! How are you?"
"Better." I lied, not wanting to worry her.
"That's great!" She beamed. "I have some good news, by the way. The people from our class found out what happened to you and know that you are at the hospital. They're all coming to visit you tomorrow."
This was not good news. I didn't want anyone to see me like this. I didn't want to have to talk to anybody. I didn't want anyone to watch me throw up, pass out or fall asleep in the middle of a sentence.
"Great."

That evening, I sent Luke a message.
A : My class is coming to visit me tomorrow.
L : And that's bad news?
A : How do I disappear?
L: I'll take that as a yes.
A : I really don't feel up to talking with anyone.
L : Don't worry, I'll save you.

The next day, alias my last day at the hospital for now, Luke showed up, true to his promise.
We spent some time watching movies and laughing at gossip stories about some random celebrities.
At noon, Sara knocked at the door and entered the room. "You have some visitors. Quite a few, actually. They're in the waiting area."
I glanced over at Luke who nodded. "I'll go."
My whole class, including my teacher, was standing around, overcrowding the small space. When they spotted me, they all started talking at the same time, telling me how strong I was, how sorry they were and how good I was doing.
I was just standing there, smiling at them, receiving hugs here and there. Soon enough, my body was feeling more and more tired and I had difficulties keeping my balance. Em seemed to notice and pushed a chair towards me. I nodded gratefully at her and sat down.
"Sorry... It's just- all... a bit tiring." I apologized.
As if on cue, I could see Luke speed walking towards us out of the corner of my eye. When he spotted me, his eyebrows scrunched together, in a very cute way must I add, he slowed down and grabbed a wheelchair which was randomly leaning against a wall.
He walked straight towards me, winked discretely, and started talking really fast. "April! Thank God I found you! You need to come with me right now. Doc Denver wants to talk to you."
He helped me into the wheelchair and turned around to my friends. "Ladies. I am sorry, this is an emergency." He flashed them a smile and I could literally see them melting in front of him. I rolled my eyes as Luke started pushing me down the hall towards my room.
As soon as he closed the doors, he couldn't hold back his laughter anymore. "They totally fell for it!"
I raised an eyebrow at him. "Uhm yeah, they totally fell for you."
"Who cares, it worked." He laughed.
