Obi-Wan
The two of you were quiet. Neither of you wanted to disrupt the silence, merely because you didn't have the courage. There was a ripple between the two of you, and it was starting to cause agony within you, and you were certain that Obi-Wan felt it too.
'I can't stand this anymore, Ben,' you whispered, eyes cascading down. 'You're always hot and cold with me. What is it that you really want?'
'Darling, you know that I would love to always be straightforward with you, but sometimes it's difficult with the Jedi council watching your every move. I have to be careful,' he said quietly, his voice nearly drawn out by the gust of wind.
'So is this just a game to you, Obi-Wan? Are you just trying to see how far you can push your emotions before it's all too late?'
His eyes widened slightly. 'No, of course not. I'm just afraid,'
'Afraid of what, Ben? That you're going to get caught?' You asked, almost bitterly.
'No,' his voice shook. 'I'm afraid that my feelings toward you are far too advanced for me to control, and I fear that the Dark Side might pull me in,'
'The Dark Side? Ben. What're you saying?' You looked up at him, your grip hardening around the cool stone of your balcony railing.
'(Y/N)... I love you,' Obi-Wan said, causing your questions to come to a halt and voice to shut off completely. Your heart thudded in your chest and you felt the nervous sweat gather in your palms, but there was also a sense of relief and sweet euphoria in your veins.
Your windswept hair fell over your shoulder as you let yourself process his words. Love? Of course, you'd considered having felt this way towards Ben, but never in your life had you hoped that he would've felt so strongly toward you. You were certain that he pushed those feelings aside.
'Say something. I can feel your mind racing and it's making me anxious,' Ben answered honestly, eyes searching yours with great fear lurking behind them.
'I- I'm not quite sure what to say, Ben,' you stuttered. 'I'm not sure there is anything else for me to say other than that I'm very happy,'
'Happy?' Obi-Wan pressed.
'Yes. You've relieved me of the confliction in my mind,' you said, before taking a deep breath and looking across at him with earnest. 'I love you, too.'
Anakin Skywalker
Your body was cold with anticipation as you looked across at a stunned Anakin, who had turned away from you after hearing you utter those three, devastating words. You'd meant every word you said, and wouldn't take them back for the world, but you were starting to regret them even so. Perhaps it was too early?
'I shouldn't have said anything, should I?' You whispered, wrapping your arms around your torso and hugging your elbows as a source of comfort. You had wished that it was Anakin's warmth you were enveloped in, but you were afraid that his touch had turned icy after you dropped that weight on him.
'It's not that,' he mumbled, turning back to you slowly. The solemn look on his face made you feel like you'd been kicked in the gut. 'It's just... why me?'
The pressure on your chest was released. 'What do you mean?'
He let out a ragged sigh. 'Why would you love me? What can I offer you other than deception and fear?'
'Anakin, don't be ridiculous,' you denied, stepping closer and taking his hand, looking him in the eyes to analyse his response before it came out of his mouth. 'You've given me more than I could've ever asked for. Peace, warmth, a shoulder to cry on... the list goes on,'
