Chapter three:

Edited

Becca's P.O.V

After getting my lunch, I headed to an unpopulated table to eat and work on the few assignments I had. The food wasn't that great, but its the schools lunch. It's never good food.

I jumped when I saw three trays get practically slammed down next to me. I look up from my books and saw the smirk that belonged to a sexy brown eyed guy. I gave him my best hard glare, hinting to him that I didn't like what he just did. The other two sat on the same side as him.

The sound of someone clearing their throat made me look away from the boy in front of me.

"I'm sorry, we didn't mean to frighten you. " the blonde haired guy said giving me an apologetic smile.

I smiled and closed my book.

"It's okay, I was just leav-" I hadn't even finished talking before the boy with the blue eyes interrupted me.

"No you're not. You are going to tell us why you are even here in our territory or we're going to take you to the pack house right now." He said in the coldest tone I've ever heard anyone use. They looked at me in disgust as if I was unclean to them.

All I could do was stare at him with complete shock on my face.

The guy in front of me looked amused by what his friend had just told me. He looked like what he said was normal.

Blondie here must've noticed my reaction and spoke up before I could even respond to what I had been told.

"What my friend means is that we know you're here in our lands and that if you don't tell us why, then we're going to have to take you and question you." He said trying to make his friend's words sound innocent, but his face held confusion and a serious look to it.

Not knowing what or how to respond to what they said, I quickly grabbed my books and made a dash out of the lunch room. I was confused and scared at what they had said. Who talks like that!

I couldn't stop the shaking in my hands, as I started to walk out of the school and into the parking lot to my truck. As soon as I got in, I pulled out my phone and called the only one I knew that could help me when i was scared.

James.

I waited for three rings till he finally picked up.

"Hey, Bec! How's school going so far? Wait aren't you suppose to be in school still?" He asked getting into the 'you better have a good reason for not being in school' ton of voice.

"James, I'm so scared and confused right now." I said biting back the sob that threaten to escape my mouth. I had never been so scared or terrified in my life till now.

"What's wrong Bec?! Is someone hurting you?! Are you okay?!" He asked rushing everything out in the process.

"I'm fine for now, but please come over to my place tonight. Please. I've got some creeps that are talking weird things to me and they said they're going to take me! Oh, God James, please get here quickly." I rushed out. Worried that my voice wouldn't make it before I broke down into a panic.

"Alright, don't worry Bec. I want you to go to your place, but make sure you aren't being followed. And I want you to stay inside your apartment till I get there. Okay, can you do that?" He asked ever so calmly and gently.

"Okay, I will." I said while nodding my head. I started up my truck and drove out of the parking lot before hanging up.

Music didn't help calm me down, nor did my mind. I just kept repeating everything over and over in my head. Now that I think about it, it would explain why the guy with blue eyes was staring at me oddly. Oh, god this school might be full of weirdos like them.

It felt like it had been a couple of hours since I had called James. I sat on my bed cuddled up in a ball waiting for him to come. It was starting to get dark when he finally arrived at my apartment when I heard him knock and call out my name.

"Becca are you there? It's me James." He said as I dashed to the door and opened it.

There standing in front of me was the one person that I knew I felt safe with. Before I could even think or say anything, I wrapped my arms tightly around his waist burring my face into his chest. Shortly after that, I felt two strong arms wrap around me.

I gave him one last squeeze before letting him go; knowing I was going to tell him everything that happened today. After locking the door, I walked into the living room and stood in front of the couch gathering all of my thoughts together. I figured it was better to tell him everything calmly and in order as they had happened.

I sat down next to him and cuddled close to him inhaling his woody sent. He always spelt like that and it was a perfect sent to go with him, since he liked hiking and doing things outdoors. Hearing him clear his throat, I knew he was waiting for me to tell him what happened.

"I hope you didn't just call me over hear so you could smell me." He said trying to ease my fears a little.

"No, I didn't. It's just that I missed you and everyone else and after today I wish I had never left home." I said sitting up and looking down at my hands. I was scared that James would think that I was crazy or faking what happened today.

"Hey, now. You don't have to be embarrassed or scared that you missed everyone. I'm glad you are because if you weren't I think I might just be a little sad about that." He said giving me his playful smirk that he used whenever he was cheering me up.

I smiled up at him before I told him about this afternoon.

He stared at me in complete shock and he even had a serious look on his face which was not always ever seen on him. He seemed deep in thought and it was making me that much more nervous than I already was. After about five more minutes of silence, I finally couldn't take it and asked him what he was thinking about.

"Well, what are you thinking about? You're making it worse for me when you just sit there starring at nothing, you know." I said fidgeting with my fingers.

He looked up at me with the blankest face I have ever seen on anyone.

"I don't think you should stay here at all. " he said with a serious tone he had ever used with me. That had me even more scared as to why he was so serious.

"Okay, well then we can start packing tomorrow and-" before I could even finish he interrupted me.

"No! We need to leave now. " he growled out, making me jump.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you but we need to leave now before anything happens-" he gently said before he suddenly stopped and turned his head towards my front door.

Deciding it would be best for me to stay quiet for a few seconds before talking, I listened to see if I could hear anything.

I couldn't even make out anything, except for the sound of my rapid beating heart.

"What did you hear?" I asked in a whisper just in case it was something serious.

"Shh! I heard something." He said dragging me behind my couch and shutting off the lights to the living room.

After hearing him say that, my heart started to thump even louder. I was terrified now. I would have thought I was going insane this afternoon and now, if it was just me here. The fact that James was in a defense mode, I knew that something big was about to happen.

"James, what's going on? I'm scared." I begged, trying to keep my voice from cracking and being too loud.

"Would you shut up for a minute!" He growled out. He quickly grabbed my upper arm and dragged me to my hall closet and before putting me in, I looked up and saw that his eyes were no longer that deep rich brown, but they were pure black.

"Listen, whatever happens stay in this closet. Don't peak. Don't get out. And don't scream. Stay quiet and you'll stay safe. Don't worry about me." He said with a different ton that I have never heard him use.

"James, can you at least tell me what's going on or who's after us?" I asked my voice barely above a whisper. The fact that James was putting me inside a closet for my protection meant that something big was coming. I didn't want him to get hurt because of me and I certainly didn't want him dead because of me.

"Shh, don't worry. Everything's going to be fine. I'm just doing this for a precaution for you. It's probably a misunderstanding that's all. Now stay hidden." He said his voice returning to normal before going back to a serious ton.

After he shut the door, I stood in there waiting for all hell to break loose. I heard the sound of my front door opening and the sound of foot steps come in. Maybe four or so people, I couldn't make out the exact amount. I could then hear the smothered sound of multiple voices, James being one of them. It sounded as if the conversation was getting heated quickly and soon they weren't just talking, but they were yelling and...growling?

That couldn't be right, could it? I am pretty sure I heard the sound of growls coming from my living room. If I am hearing correctly then James could be attacked by a bunch of dogs right now! Oh God!! James can't fight off three guys and a couple of dogs on his own. Neither could I, but at least two is better than one, right?

Forgetting what James had said about staying in the closet, I quietly opened the door a crack so I could try and see what was happening, but the wall was blocking my view. I opened my door a little bit wider so that I could slide out and get a closer look. I got to the edge of the hallway and peaked around the corner to find something I never thought existed outside of books or even in my living room!
