Zane

Zane was born to a family, one whose father was King Jay and his brother, Prince Kai. He had strong magic, far stronger then Kai's. Jay always said he was his favorite. Kai had a different form, known as the king form, which is why he was chosen to be king. When Jay vanished, Zane felt alone, and he seemed to be much angrier. He blamed Kai for Jay's vanishing, and as years passed, something happened. Zane and his brother, Kai, were going to see the 'Evil' queen Regina. Zane climbed onto his horse, and it trotted towards the path, as he waited for Kai, who soon arrived on his steed. Kai gestured him, "Come. We must move quickly."

Zane muttered, "I know." He kneed his horse, which galloped down the road. Kai trailed behind Zane, his horse keeping a nice and easy pace. Zane noticed shadows moving along the side of the road, but didn't make any notice of it. Not until a tree fell, nearly crashing on top of him. Zane heard Kai yell, and he turned his horse, just in time to avoid another tree that fell right where he'd be. The shadows surrounding them suddenly attacked, everything happening to fast, and Zane felt overtaken by a darker, stronger magic that changed him to a dragon, but he collapsed, the pain too much for him to bear.

After a few hours, he woke up, still on that path, and his brother was there, knocked out cold, in a coma. He struggled to stand, and he was in his human form. He walked to Kai, kneeling down, "Kai..."

He looked up, hearing their own guards, and they stopped, the main one that was known as Evin. He was more of a hunter, but he was still loyal and typically a guard. He got off his horse, going to them, "Sir, what happened to the King?"

Zane gritted his teeth, thinking of a lie quickly, "The king is dead, and I, his brother, will take his place." He used his magic to make Kai look dead and Evin fell for it, as he stood up, and shouted, "All hail king Zane!"

The guards dipped their head in respect to Zane, who grinned faintly, a faint icy blue mist coming from his mouth. He walked towards the horse that they'd brought for him, and climbed onto his horse. The guards dragged Kai to a sled type of thing, putting him on and they headed to the castle.

Everyone in Zane's kingdom was nervous, whispering things about him. He cleared his throat, as he walked onto the stage, "Do not fear me, my people. I'm here to protect you as your king, and I will not harm those who are loyal to me. Kai has died to these people who tried to eliminate I as well. But as a true brother, I will rise to king, in his name."

People began to shout Zane's name, but others simply left, retreating. Zane growled, knowing they didn't respect them as they did Kai, and he knew he couldn't get them to see him as they saw Kai. Zane stalked off into his castle, walking towards the throne room, where Jay stood, "Father..."

Jay smirked, "Hello Zane. I see you finally became king."

Zane nodded, "With those demons that attacked us, they knocked Kai into a coma. Who knows for how long."

Jay spoke, his voice dark, "Perfect... Now you know that you must rule to your power."

Zane replied, "Of course. I'll show them not to mess with us."

Jay stared at his son in pride, "I must go. Be careful of what you do, because one may betray another." He vanished after saying that, leaving Zane to ponder. Zane walked to the balcony, casting a curse over the guards, "Fetch some servants for the castle. Force the people to pay their taxes, and if the Dark One gets in the way, cast him out."

The guards nodded, and marched off, some riding on horses. Evin was not in the midst of them, in which Evin ran off to the Eastern side where he'd be 'safe'. Zane watched as the guards stormed through the town, collecting taxes, and taking precious items. He chuckled before breaking into a laugh, and it seemed like the kingdom fell into an eternal darkness. He created walls of brambles all around the kingdom, so people couldn't escape his reign, and created Golems all around the place. Anyone who tried to stand against him, would be killed, by being hung or getting their heads cut off.

Years pasted, Kai remained in a coma, at least so Zane thought. He played with his sword, getting bored because of the years of the same old things. There was a sudden blast of light magic and he vanished, leaving an illusion in his place, and Kai stalked in, "Zane! Where are you!"

Zane purred, "Hello Kai."

Kai suddenly turned to face him, and Zane quickly blasted him into the wall. He then created a powerful ball of magic to counter Kai's bright light magic. They collided, and Zane put more of his dark magic into it, watching as it pushed right into Kai, seemingly to kill him, but Kai survived. Zane snarled in annoyance, turning into his dragon form, engulfing himself in dark magic, flying towards Kai, just to get countered by a very powerful, bright, blast of light magic. He felt himself disappearing, and he cried out, "No!"

Zane saw his brother's pain in his eyes and it made him laugh, before he vanished, to a colder, darker realm, that was dead. There was no life, just darkness and he left it, after a thousand years, being sent to an odd realm, where a town called Storybrooke existed, and he wished to rule.
