"Sadie, I wanna play too!"

Sadie looked down at the small girl with pale grey wings that ran up next to her. She had pale almost pinkish grey hair and bright amber eyes. Sadie smiled, "Alright, alright Zoe." She picked her up not that she was much bigger then her, they were only three years apart.

A woman stood in the doorway of the house behind the two girls in the front yard. She smiled faintly, "Be careful with your sister Sadie." Sadie looked towards her and nodded, "Yes mom." She carried Zoe further into the yard who let out a squeal of delight, "I can fly!"

Sadie giggled, "One day lil' sis, one day you'll fly. You'll soar high up into the sky like mom and maybe I'll get there too." She held her up in the air with a strength no normal seven year old had, even for an angel. She spread her own wings, black as night and flapped them barely, creating a small breeze and Zoe reached out with her arms, spreading her small delicate wings, grinning.

Sadie smiled, blowing a stray blue hair out of her face. "Don't stay out too long girls!" their mother called, going back inside. They replied simultaneously, "We won't!"

Sadie put Zoe down, "What do you want to do?" She watched her sister tilt her head as she thought about what she wanted. "Maybe go into the meadows?" Sadie nodded briefly and took Zoe's hand in her own, leaving the yard towards the large meadows that patched the surrounding area. Zoe squirmed with excitement as they drew closer. Sadie remained cautious knowing the possible dangers that lingered about around here especially for them.

Being that neither of the two were full angels, they were very much frowned upon. The sister s knew what they were since their mother never kept it secret from them. Too many people, other angels to be more precise were always threatening to take them away to do who knows what to them. Their even younger sister, Daisy had been born about a year before Zoe and was only three years old. She tended to stay in the house where it was safe and cozy.

Sadie watched as Zoe ran out into the tall flowered meadows with a smile. She caught sight of something after a while of them being there, something like smoke in the air a bit away on the other side of the meadows. She frowned and called Zoe back, taking her sister's hand when she reached her. Zoe stared up at her with large confused eyes, "What is it?"

Sadie didn't reply as she dragged Zoe back towards the house. Zoe fussed the whole way, "Sadie, what is it?" Still Sadie did not reply, dragging Zoe into the house and closing the door behind them. "Zoe we should go to bed. I'll tell mom we're in and then I'll come tuck you in ok?"

Zoe sighed reluctantly, "Ok...."

Sadie watched her sister go down one of the hallways and into her room before going to find her mother in the kitchen. She stood in the doorway, "Mom... I need to tell you something."

Her mother froze and looked at Sadie, not curiosity but worry in her hazel eyes, "What did you see Sadie?"

Sadie looked confused, "What?"

"What did you see?" her mother repeated. She crossed her arms, "I need to know."

Sadie shook her head, "I saw smoke, passed the meadows. Mom do you know what it is?" She waited patiently for a reply but didn't receive the answer she though she would get.

"Sadie dear, go ahead and get some rest. It's alright if the smoke is beyond the meadows, it won't reach us. It's probably just someone has a fire going." Sadie was about to complain when her mother scooped her up in her arms in a hug, "I love you Sadie, keep an eye on your sisters and get some rest."

Sadie sighed, "Yes mom." She smiled faintly, "I love you too." She kissed her on the cheek and got down, going to her room and tucking in Zoe like she had promised.
