I sat beside Daryl as we drove, Sasha and Abraham next to me.
It was a bit squishy but I didn't mind.
My head some how always found its way to Daryl's shoulder, and soon my eyes slid closed.
Only flickering back open to the sound of voices.
My head ached as I lifted it from the car seat, no one else in the truck with me.
I peaked over the dash, there were men in front of us. All on motor bikes, Daryl and the others started to walk back towards the truck.
"What's goin on?" I ask, my voice on edge. Daryl looks calm and he takes my hand, shifting the truck into drive. "They're just gonna fall us back, want to have a tall with Rick, work for some guy named Neagen."
My chest tightened at the formality of the name. Daryl noticed this and gave my hand a reassuring squeeze.
I sat and starred forward until the gates of Alexandria came into view.
"Fuck." Abraham swore when he saw the broken white church fallen over onto the wall.
"I need to go find Maggie." I say, reachin over Daryl for the door handle, anxiously.
"Beth, well just drive in, calm down." Sasha reassured me, motioning for Daryl to keep goin. He did so and we slowly proceeded through half the sea of walkers. Our houses came into view.
My heart rate spiked when I saw Rick, covered head to toe in blood.
"Daryl!" I pointed him out and Daryl stopped the vehicle, gettin out quickly, me followin close behind, given we were immune.
The walkers pressed against our sides as we fought our way through to Jessie, Rick, Carl (who is thankfully holdin Judith) and her two boys.
"Rick!" I shouted frantically, just as Sam yelled mom.
His head snapped towards us and our eyes met, a moment of relief and joy swept over both of us. A grin spread across my face and his lit up. He led his train of people toward us slowly, not trying to disturb the crowd and get noticed.
"Git in the back of the truck." Daryl growled at the people, tryin to get them to move faster.
They followed great fully, and soon they were all safe in the truck.
"Has any one seen Maggie? Glenn? The others?" I shout over the pounding
Carl gives me a hug, and Rick wraps me in his arms, kissin my forehead.
"No. Glenn never made it back from the run." Rick states and I grimace a pit forming in my stomach.
"What about Carol? Rosita? Tara? Eugene?" Abraham asks, a hint of worry dropping into his voice.
They all shake their heads sorrowfully. "We're staying here until the walkers clear out. Then we're going to search every building and find survivers. The people that wanted to talk to Rick didn't follow us into the herd so we'll be rid of them for a while." I state, taking charge. I felt like throwing up at the thought of a walker chewing on Maggie's unborn baby while she lay torn open.
Daryl laid his hand on my back, attempting to steady me.
My lungs didn't want to work right now so I gasp for air. The sound of the walkers fists against the small metal walls that encased us getting louder.
"It's almost dark. We should get some rest." Sasha says. Sittin in the corner. Abraham says he had enough sleep and crawls into the front, keeping watch for any survivors.
I lay down against Daryl. My eyes slidin shut real fast.
...
"Beth." My voice is called through a very large pond, rippling the water.
My head is on metal.
"Beth." I open my eyes to Maggie's face beaming down on mine and immediately jump to hug her.
She puts her fingers to her lips and I see a baby, wrapped in a cloth in her arms.
My heart swells as I gaze upon the most beautiful thing this world has ever shown me.
Glenn rubs her shoulder and smiles at me.
I kiss the babies forehead a tear slippin from my eye, running down my face.
I stand up and turn to Daryl huggin him tightly, and kissing him on the lips, fiercely.
I didn't care what every one thought. I was to grateful. My lips broke the kiss but I held onto his waist.
"I love you." I whispered.
"I know." He said.
Taking my hand we exited the truck, heading to our house, killing all the spare walkers we saw. Maggie and Glenn were already inside, same with Rick and everyone else.
"We still need to find Tara, Rosita, and the others." I state when I walk into the door.
"We are looking. They'll be here." Abe responding, his face fallin.
"Can I go to my room for a but before we leave to get some extra clothes?" I ask and Rick nodds, puttin cans into a back pack.
I head up stairs, entering my temporary room. Breathing in all the memories made here.
Daryl wraps his arms around my waist from behind. Kissin my neck.
"What are you doing?" I ask, as his lips trail up wards to my ear.
"Will you marry me?"
My back stiffens and I turn, the obvious shock of the question registered on my face.
"I don't want to waste time. I want you to be mine for good. I love you. So will you marry me?"
"Yes." I state, "yes."
He slides his hands around my waist kissing my lips passionately. He slides a golden ring with three large diamonds onto my finger.
I marvel at its beauty.
"I asked Maggie before we left on the run. An' I even prayed 'bout it " he said. And I smiled.
I smiled even after he let me go.
I smiled.
