This is a part 4.
I followed Rick quite a ways in silence. I kept close and looked around nervously. Everytime we came across a walker he had me kill it.
"How far out is this area?" I asked.
"Not too much further. We're going to clear it and see if there's anything useful," Rick said.
"Alright," I said. It wasn't much longer after that I started hearing the collective sounds of walkers. Even at a distance I knew there had to be at least four or five. My stomach turned at the idea of facing more than one at a time. It was something I had never had to do before. I looked at Rick than. He didn't show the slightest sign of fear. It didn't surprise me from what I had seen of Rick. I imagine it would take a great deal for him to be afraid. Knowing he was beside me gave me some courage.
Rick's hand shot out to stop me. I looked forward. We had made it. There were some walkers stumbling around. I found my count of four or five to be wrong. There had to be at least fifteen of them.
"The closest ones we'll take out with our knives. Just use that until I say otherwise. Once we start shooting we have to be fast, more will come. I don't know how close any others are," Rick whispered. We got out our knives. "Ready?" He whispered.
"Yes," I whispered back. He started first. I had killed two of the walkers when all the rest seemed to be getting too close.
"Alright, now!" Rick said. I quickly switched my knife for my gun and started to shoot. I missed the first few tries. I was starting to tense up. "You got this, come on," He encouraged. I kept trying and got some. He helped out. It seemed to take forever and yet no time at all to kill all of them. Now we just had to quickly collect any nearby supplies.
