I had been separated from my group for over a week now. I didn't know if any of them were alive and I didn't know where I was. All I knew was that I had picked an good little area to set up camp. I had lasted here the whole week but I knew that I would have to move on soon.
The only thing holding me where I was the hope my group would find me. That maybe Carl would find me. He had made me come up with something that would allow him to find me if we ever got separated. So each day I made a small fire to send up some smoke. I only did it for a few minutes each time but it always brought one or two walkers to me.
Everyday I waited and waited, hoping he had been close enough to see it. Today was the day I decided that if they didn't come, I was going to move on.
I lit my last fire and waited for a few minutes. I watched the smoke raise. In my mind I prayed that he would see it. By the time I put it out, my hopes were dashing and they had been low before. I got ready to move on in the morning, as I knew I would set out first thing.
As I finished, I heard soft footsteps. I tensed, ready to attack.
"Good to see you're ready to go," Carl said. He was standing there, a smile on his face. I hugged him tight, feeling tears form.
"It took you long enough," I said. He held me tight.
"Sorry, I won't let that happen again," He said.
