(Chapter Five-Powerful Voice)

----------------

Don't offer to sing, don't offer to sing, don't offer to sing... Sapphire repeated in her head. She knew that she had a good voice, she'd been told enough times for her to figure it out. But that didn't stop her from being shy and afraid of singing in front of people. She wanted to sing as little as she could in the video, if Lapis and Pearl took the lead in the singing her and Ruby could sing a line and it would be fine.

"I don't think our song will work. I didn't like it," Lapis said. Pearl squaked at her, and Sapphire checked it down in the notebook on her lap. She had made a chart on in her book. It was a T-Chart that read; "Pearl Squaked, Lapis Flipped Someone Off and Ruby Huffed." So far it was 3 for everyone.

"What about a Twenty-One Pilots song?" Sapphire whispered.

"Them? Ew," Pearl said, raising her nose. Sapphire's heart dropped, her stomach filling with butterflies.

"S-sorry," She muttered. Ruby wrote something down in the notebook she pulled out of her bag.

"Its better than the song you suggested, I like Estelle and all, but Twenty-One Pilots is better," Lapis said smirking at Pearl.

Pearl went to say something but Ruby cut her off, "I like their songs." Pearl gasped and looked destressed for a second. Pearl gave up throwing her hands up in surrender. She asked which song they were going to do.

"I only know of Stressed Out, HeavyDirtySoul and Tear in my Heart," Ruby said.

"Thats ok, I like those songs. Tear is my favourite," Sapphire said making a cute smile.

Ruby smiled back, "Same." They stared at each other for a bit just smiling, then a large blush spread across their faces and they looked away.

"Polarize," Lapis said. She tilted her head. Sapphire looked at her and nodded.

"I don't know it," Pearl said. Lapis pulled out her phone in seconds and scooted her chair towards Pearl handing her the phone. Ruby leaned her head towards the screen of the phone. The sound of Twenty-One Pilots played out from the small phone ((Go ahead and click the song if you don't know what it sounds like. This is basically one of my top 5 Twenty-One Pilots song)). Ruby seemed to enjoy it, nodding her head along to the beat. Pearl said she liked it after it finsihed.

"Good, no we can move on from that boring element." Ruby said, pushing away her smile.

"Ok, well I have the best voice out of all of you, so I should sing most of it," Pearl said snarkily.

Lapis laughed.

"What?" she asked.

"You've never even heard the rest of us sing."

"I don't need to to know I'm the best."

Lapis laughed again.

"Fine then, all of you sing," Pearl commened. Sapphire checked a tick in Pearl's section twice and Lapis' twice.

"Ok," Lapis said shrugging she started to sing a bit from Polarize. It sounded lovely, Sapphire started to feel a little shaky. She wasn't as good as her, or Pearl. She was pathetic compared to these two.

"Fine, fine. You're good. What about you Sapphire?" Pearl admitted.

"I'm aweful."

"No you're not," Lapis said looking over to her smiling, "Come on," Lapis whispered to her, reassuring her it was ok.

Sapphire shaking slowly moved her mouth. She sang the slow part of Polarize." Luckily the class was noisy and only those in her group could hear her soft tune. Ruby's face begun to heat up, becomming more and more red.

Their hearts were racing. Sapphire was from her being afraid of what they were going to say. And Ruby didn't know. From Sapphire? Probably. But she didn't know. Sapphire ended, peeking up to look at her group's faces.

Lapis was smiling smugly at Pearl, who was stunned. Ruby was still blushing. "Alright! Alright! You guys can sing! Ruby?"

"Nope, cannot at all!" She said her blush toning down.

"Well, we need to at least know your ability, so we can fit your singing in somewhere." Lapis said.

"Ugh," She grunted. She sat up and started to sing a rough version of some random child's tune.

"Why doesn't she sing the beginning? And then I'll sing the slow part, the halo bit. And you and Lapis can split the rest?" Sapphire suggested swinging her legs.

"Why don't you sing more than that?" Lapis asked. Sapphire shaked her head as the bell rang. Everyone shot up collecting their things and leaving the class. Ruby sat and so did Sapphire. They stared at eachother for a minute. Until Lapis grabbed Sapphire's bag and her hand.

"Lets go dork!" She said pulling her out of the class. Picked up Peridot from her class and together they talked as they walked. Usally Cinna would be with them, but she was a few steps in frount of them, talking with Milky. They didn't say anything about it. Cinna was just a likable person.

They stopped to let Lapis off at her art class and continued walking down the hall. Milky turned off waving at Cinna. She slowed her walk to watching with the other girls.

"You seem to be getting pretty close to Milky," Peridot commented.

"Ya! She's actually really nice and fun to talk to once you get to know her!" Cinna exclaimed, excitedly.

"Interesting," Sapphire muttered. They got to their math class and all three sat in the middle end row, Sapphire in the middle of the two. Cinna quickly pulled out her notebook and ripped a sheet out. She placed it on Sapphire's desk. This would be the note passing page. If someone wanted to say something, they'd just take in from Sapphire's desk and write it.

No one seemed to have anything to say. And that continued as Mrs. Rainbow-Quartz taught the lesson. And as she handed out the work sheets. And during the silent working period. It meant Sapphire was swimming in thoughts.

Even though to everyone it looked like she was staring at the ground during her little song, but she was really staring at Ruby. She watched as the small girls eyes widened at her singing and the blush grow on he plump face.

She looked cute. And embarrassed. And surprised. But either way it goes, she was adorable. Sapphire had to stop thinking of the girl so much. She was starting to get addicted again. And that went so well last time.

Before she knew it the class was done and she was getting her stuff for lunch. Then that was done with chatter and nonsense. Then her other two classes. And then she was being driven home. It was all a blur to her. She hadn't seen Ruby the rest of the day.

The day went by fast for Ruby too. Her school day anyway. But once she got home and started to chill in her room, things got chaotic.
