(Epilogue)
So I guess this is it, huh?
Well enjoy my faithful readers!-----------------
Sapphire's heart was racing in her chest. Its not like what she was doing is hard. She's just accepting her diploma for graduating University. What's so stressful about that? She's just got to walk, shake a hand and leave. Easy. As she took her first step on the stage she looked to her left. More of a fear instinct, but she's glad she did. Because she saw Ruby. And her heart slowed its fast pace. She knew her Ruby was waiting down in the audience. The only one there to represent her. But that didn't matter. Who else could she possibly want other than Ruby.
Sapphire held the piece of paper in her hand, her heart beating slower with each thought of Ruby (which is ironic because thinking of Ruby usually makes her heart speed up). She posed on the stage for Ruby to quickly take a dozen pictures or more then walked off. Sitting with the rest of her class. The rest of the time went by in a blur. She clapped when everyone else did and stood when others did. Following the crowd, until she could see Ruby again.
When it was over she almost rejoiced. She quickly ran into the open arms of Ruby, happily giggling. "I'm so proud of you! You did it! Now you can get a big fancy job!"
Sapphire laughed and they walked out, hand in hand. "We can only hope." They walked to the car laughing together. As happy as could be. Sapphire slid into the passenger seat while Ruby sat in the drivers. "Time to get Garnet from your mother's," Sapphire said.
"Well, I don't know. I was thinking that we could maybe spend some alone time," Ruby smiled, pretending innocence.
"No thank you. I want to see my little girl!" Sapphire said, smiling, mocking Ruby.
"You're no fun," Ruby muttered, teasing.
"On the contrary, I like to think of myself as the favourite mother," Sapphire teased back.
"Did she say that!" Ruby said, astonished.
Sapphire laughed loudly, "No, no. But I can pick up hints better than you can," She giggled and kissed Ruby's cheek.
The teasing and giggling continued before they arrived at Ruby's mom's. They both walked up to the door and knocked. They were met with a small toddler with dark brown hair, opening the door. Her tiny face lit up when she saw her parents. "Mummy, mother! She said excitedly and reached her arms out for a hug.
The two girls leaned down and were giving a weak hug by their daughter. "Did you have fun at grandma's?" Sapphire asked.
Garnet paused for a second, "Yes. Let's go now." She then walked out the door towards. They both laughed at their small child's reaction. Ruby took Garnet to the car while Sapphire grabbed all her things and said thank you to her mother-in-law.
They began driving home with a happily humming child in the back seat. "Mummy, why are you and mother always together?" She asked after a while of silence.
"Because we love each other, sweetie," Ruby answered.
"She's your other half?" Garnet asked again.
"Well yes, that's exactly right. Where did you hear that?" Ruby asked her.
"Papa said is that time we went to his big house," Garnet said with a hint of child innocence.
"Oh. Well papa is absolutely right. Your mummy is my other half," Sapphire smiled at Ruby.
"Are all people split in half?" Garnet asked.
"Most people are. You gotta search long and hard for the person that holds the other part of you. Just make sure you don't accidentally give your half to someone else, or you may never find who you were really meant for," Sapphire responded.
"Ok, mother. I won't"
"Thank you very much."
Although not everyone is made for someone, Sapphire was glad she was. Otherwise she wouldn't have had her beautiful wife or her stunning daughter to be with her. She was glad to start the next part of her life with so many wonderful people around her. She didn't know for sure how hard the future would be, but she knew, as long as she Ruby by her side, she'd get through it just fine.
