It's our paradise and it's our war zone...

The clock stroke 3:00 and the bell chimed and students rushed out eagerly. I took a deep breath  taking  my time gathering my things. I had detention today and it didn't really put me in a chipper mood. I was actually dreading the end of day. I wouldn't mind taking another hour of Chemistry if it would get me out of detention.

I pushed  my way against the current of students and took the stairs to the designated room. I took a deep breathe, preparing myself, and pushed the door. It was a small math room with a minimum amount of students spread everywhere. Mostly seniors, for being late, or freshman for misbehaving. I walked up to the desk with a white sheet of paper and signed my name. In the small crowd I spotted none other than Luke sitting in the middle jamming out to some song playing in his headphones. Of course he was wearing all black, making him look like a beautiful  goth prince, his blue streak now slightly faded peaked from the top of his head. And who could forget about those tattoos. I smiled shaking my head and took a seat in the back leaving him be. If I was going to be in here for a while I might as well do my homework.

Ten questions into college algebra I was interrupted by a scrape of a chair. Luke straddled the chair in front of me and perched his elbows on my table grinning.  "I think you're in the wrong class?" His voice dripped with sarcasm and his grin deepened.

I closed my textbook and stood up straighter in my seat. For a second I contemplated wiping that grin right off his face but I reconsidered because I didn't want extra detention. "No actually I'm not, I'm here for detention. Thursday at 3:15." I threw the note I got from the office at his face and he picked it up, looked at it for a bit and threw it back at me. "Fair enough."

"So why are you here?" There was no point in doing my homework again since he was going to keep distracting me so I might as well start a conversation.

"Apparently Mr. Mars thinks  I have an "attitude" problem. It's not my fault he can't take a joke." He air quoted attitude rolling his eyes.

"Aw that sucks." I said genuinely. "I'm just in here for being tardy, twice."

"I figured. You don't look like the type to cause destruction."

I narrowed my eyes at him and did the most menacing thing I could think of. I folded my arms and stuck my tongue out  at him. He tipped his head back laughing hysterically. I realized I must have looked like complete fool. I pictured it way better in my head. I tried to keep a serious face but his laughing was too contagious. Here we are in the middle of detention laughing our heads off. Soon my stomach began to hurt and tears formed in my eyes. Somehow on cue our laughter slowly died down.

Suddenly Luke slammed his palms on my desk scaring the life out of me. "LAILA IM SOOO BORED! LAILAAAA IM SO BORED! ENTERTAIN ME!" He kicked his legs out frantically, acting like a child.

"I don't know! Do homework or talk to someone else in here."

He motioned to the crowed. "Just look at them, they're like catatonic zombies or something."

Luke was right. I looked around to see people either staring straight ahead, or sleeping. Even the teacher Mrs. Dunn put down her book to catch some z's.

"This is so strange." I said waving my head in front of a students face. Nothing. "I call it detention void. Seems school sucks after all!" He said now standing on top of the desk, then plopped back down. "So you see, there is literally nothing to do. And you seem like the only one who's not a zombie. And I'm extremely bored. So very very bored." Okay now he was getting a little dramatic.
