29. Grin

After the his row with Hermione, Ron returned home to his mother. Finally, after hiding for a day, he Apparated to the only wizard he knew who wouldn't kill him. Ron landed outside of George's flat a moment later. His brother opened the door and quickly ushered him inside seeing how distressed he was.

"What is wrong, little brother?" George asked. He had obviously been asleep, his red hair was sticking up wildly in all directions.

"I told Hermione about Grace." Ron whispered. George sat up and nearly choked on the drink he had just taken.

"You what?" He shouted.

"I-I had been down to the Cauldron for a drink and when I got home she wasn't. I got angry and when she did get home I yelled at her. I practically taunted her with the fact that I didn't love her. She told me to get out." Ron said miserably.

"You really don't need to drink." George concluded, Ron nodded in agreement.

"You didn't tell her who. Did you?" George asked. Ron shook his head.

"I did." Ron admitted miserably. "I rubbed it in her face like the miserable prat I am."

"Does she actually know her? I mean, where they friends?" George tried again, hoping for a better answer.

"No..."

"Good."

"I need to go see Grace." Ron said and stood up. Then before his brother could tell him about the recent addition of the Prophet, he had grabbed the suitcase he had discarded and quickly Apparated to his witch.

"Grace." Ron called to the closed door. "Please open up."

"Hello." came Grace's small reply as she opened the door. There was a sad look on her face and in her hand she held the Daily Prophet.

"Can I come in?" Ron asked quietly. Grace looked at the ground and bit her lip.

"Would your fiancé want you to?" She retorted hatefully. Ron gasped softly, not knowing how the witch had found out.

"How did you-"

"Know that you don't love me?" She finished incorrectly in a bitter tone. Ron winced at her obvious sadness.

"No." He said softly, he reached out a hesitant hand in an attempt to caress her freckled cheek; the witch cringed away from his touch and threw the Prophet at him.

She turned and stormed into the living room, Ron followed quietly through the open door. Ron quickly sat his suitcase down and leant against the wall, examining the Prophet. Plastered across the page was a picture of Hermione, her face angry as she threw their engagement ring at him. Beside the picture of Hermione, was a picture of he and Grace; he held her gently and kissed her forehead as she hugged him.

"Happy, Ron?" Grace asked wearily from the couch. "Read it, Ron. Shed some light on our little situation here."

"Grace, I-"

"Read it, Ron." Grace said as she grit her teeth to stop the tears. So he did.

'War Hero Turned Zero

Famous war hero, Ron Weasley, had been engaged to long time best friend and war hero, Hemione Granger after the sudden and tragic death of Draco Malfoy just months before. It appeared that the two were happy and in love; they had even announced their engagement at a family party. Though it seems that the happy facade we all see is just a show. Weasley has another witch! He's been sneaking around behind our Hermione's back with a witch by the name of Grace Winter. In the above picture (left) it is seen that our hero has called of the engagement after being taunted that she wasn't Ron's only love! In the picture directly beside that (right) is Ron and his mistress we now know. What could be wrong with our hero?
