No, this is not a Monty Python phrase but it's a lot like that, and thank you. The he-witch is a ROBERT DAVIDSON ORIGINAL. (If you haven't read the first in the series you should. Here's a link: https://www.wattpad.com/myworks/60584223/write/210964171)
You have heard of a she-devil, haven't you? So why not a he-witch?
Let me explain. When someone says "she-devil," the "she" part is allowed because devils are presumptively male, right? Cause if you ever have a this-devil, that-devil type of convo, and one of your devils under discussion happens to have a vagina, you can't be bothered to go through the whole rigmarole of saying "female devil." You just want to tag a short phoneme on the front of the word and save yourself the time and trouble of pronouncing the whole "female" word; thus "she-devil." I mean Jesus, the word female, it's way too long, isn't it?
Now it is true that this she-devil thing only renders itself up as a convenience on somewhat unusual occasions; by which I mean the occasions on which you find yourself in your devil discussions needing to a priori distinguish male devils from the female ones; somewhat unusual, I mean, unless you're a sexist bastard who has need to call special attention to--but I'm just kidding when I say that. There are perfectly good reasons you might wanna specify a devil's gender.
Annnnnnnyway, so the he-witch thing should now be clear. It's the gender-reverse case of the she-devil thing. The presumptive case for witches--am I right y'all?--is female. Therefore, we can signify a special case of male witch by the term "he-witch." Yes!
And in the world of Durne, there is a particular kingdom wherein the highest magic is that of witchcraft. That's right! Everyone wants to be a witch, man! But this kingdom within Durne (all of Durne is not like this) has all girls as the highest level mages. See, they're witches! And the puny men are just trying to get their little kicks in and be all magical and failing, so they're he-witches!
