Chapter 9: Reminders Of The Past

Aly POV

I looked down at the shattered glass and the cement.

Then I looked up at the pool and saw Haley swimming over to me.

"Aly! Please let me explain!" Haley said to me. Why should I? I was so angry with her.

I got home early today to find Haley and Austin in the pool. Haley had her legs wrapped around Austin's waist and it looked like Austin was going to kiss her. That's when I dropped my glass of water. Now Haley was trying to explain? I think I got the message. I turned to walk away when I was stopped by Haley.

"Aly! Wait! You can't be mad at me yet. You have to let me explain things to you!" Haley said. That. Was. It. I have had enough of lies in my life!

"Explain what Haley!? That your dating Austin! I think I understand that part! What I don't understand is why!?" I shouted at her. How could she do this after all the pain he caused her the past two years!

"Because! You know how I feel about him!" She shouted right back at me. How dare she say that! Did she forget how she was crying almost every other night over him for the past year because she couldn't stand to see him with Monica!

"How on earth could you be this stupid Haley!?" I yelled at her. Just then we were interrupted by Austin.

"Hey! Don't call her stupid!" He said.

"First off, I didn't call her stupid! I said she was being stupid! Second off, how dare you do this to her! You have hurt her so much!" I shouted at Austin. He looked really confused after that.

"What do you mean? I haven't done anything to her?" He asked me. What!! Did he really not see how much pain she was in just a couple of weeks ago?! I have had it with him!

"Are you freaking kidding me!?" I scream, "Haley has liked you since 6th grade! And when you asked her out she said no because she didn't think it work over summer break! But then you go and start dating a different girl right away! You were her best friend, Austin! She lost her best friend! She has cried herself to sleep 11 out of 12 months for the past four years, Austin! I think I have a right to want to protect her! And the fact she was keeping it from me and lying to my face hurts me! All I'm trying to do is protect her and give her the family she has never had! Her parents are home about 20 to 15 days out of the year! It has been that way her whole life!" I screamed at him. I know it will hurt him to hear that but he needs to know what he did to her.

He was definitely hurt. Tears started running down his face as he turned to look at Haley. She looked at him with a cold emotionless face. I could tell I brought back those bad feeling she had. When she looked at him it was now different. She remembered what he did to her and she knows that she can't forgive him that easily.

"Is it true?" Austin asked her. Haley turned and ran up stairs. I could hear a door being shut and locked as Austin ran after her.

"Haley wait" Austin said....

Austin POV:

I watched as Haley ran up the stairs to her room. I was shocked. Why wouldn't she tell me how much I hurt her. I couldn't bring my feet to move. How could she even look at me after all the pain I had caused her. I looked over to Aly to see her looking at me with hate filled eyes. I now understand why she was so upset. 

 I finally found control over my feet and took off for the stairs. I ran up them as fast as could strait to Haley's room. 

"Haley" I said lightly knocking on the door. 

There was no answer. I just want to talk to her. I need to apologize and let her know that there is now way I am going to hurt her again. I can't believe how bad I hurt her the first time and so many times after that.
