Monday October 12, 2003

Aly's POV

I'm going to meet two knew friends today is what mommy told me. There names are Haley and Bree. I'm so excited! "We are here!", mommy says and jump out of the car. We are at the park! I love the swings! There my favorite.

I see two other girls and run up to them. "Hi! I'm Aly" I say. "I'm Haley and this is Bree," says Haley. "I like you girls. Promise we will be best friends forever!," I ask. "Promise!," they both shout at the same time. "Let's go to the swings!", I say!

We run up,to the swings and they reach them first. Two of them are taken so I just watch. "Here you can have my swing," I here someone say. I look over and see a boy a little taller than me with curly hair and brown chocolate eyes. "Thanks!", I say with a smile. I notice another boy sitting on the other swing. "What's your names?" I ask. The boy on the swing answers me first,"I'm Austin," he says. And the boy with curly hair says,"I'm Jordan".....

Haley POV:

I'm going to Aly's house again!! I love going there but I don't like that mommy and daddy will be gone. They are always working. But they tell me that they work so they can give me a life I deserve? I'm not sure what that means?

I think it will be like this for a while. Always going to Aly's for weeks at a time. Bree is coming over for couple days to, so it will be fun! Aly's house is the biggest out of the three of ours. I get lost every time I go there. But all of the houses in Cresco are big.

When I get there I can hardly sit still. I start to run around with Aly playing with all her toys. When dinner time comes around I already miss my mommy and daddy....

Beth's POV:

Chaos..... The alarms were going off. The fire alarms. It's the middle of the night and all I can smell is smoke.

It's everywhere.

I walk into the hallway and that's when I see the flames.

I run to the girls's room. All I can think about is getting them out.

Devon is there taking Bailey in his arms.

I pick up Bree and we carry them outside trying to avoid the flames.

Fire trucks are just arriving. I feel like I'm going to pass out. Then I remember where I saw the flames. They were coming from my parents bedroom

My parents are gone. They died in the fire. I'm lost in the world. I won't even talk to the girls. And now they are taking them away from me. I'm going with Devon. We are being sent away to a foster home across the country. No matter how much it kills me to leave the girls, I can't talk to them.

I hate looking at them. They remind me to much of my parents. Devon isn't as bad. He doesn't look a whole lot like them. And it's mom I miss the most.

I was told that the girls are going to a family in Cresco. About a half hour from Elma. Most of the people in Cresco are rich people. They should have a good life. I will be sent information on how they are doing each month. I was told I could stay if I was able to talk to the girls. But I can't.

Im glad the girls are ok. But if I wouldn't have worried about the girls, I could have saved mom and dad. They would still be alive.....
