Chapter ten: Rat me out

Once we got back to the farm I was bombed with questions like:

What happened?
What's wrong with your eyes?
Are you ok?

Rick sent me off to bed and Carl to so we could get our strength back. Well walking back Carl asked again about the contacts.

"I can answer that." Shane spat well digging in his pocket and bringing out a paper.
"Maxie." He finished. I whipped my head around to face him. He passed the paper to everyone, letting them all see. They all looked at me in disbelief.
Carl was last to get the paper and read the name out loud.

"Maxie Jose Fin Woods... " my eyes teared up.
"Can't be me. My names Josefine Jackson" I said lying.
"Your pictures right here!" Shane yelled.
I let stray tears fall.
"She's a threat and this proves it. "Shane said.
"Josefine..." Sophia whispered. I looked up at her with a tear stained face.
"She needs to be executed" Shane finished, everyone once again gasping.
"Shane" Rick started
"Maxie is a threat" he said, speaking bitterly on my, real, name.

Well they talked about it Carl dragged me to the side.
"What the hell is this?" He yelled, holding the old paper in his hand.
"Carl I was going to tell you" I cried.
"Really? You were? When!?" He yelled.
I paused.
"Who are you? Really?" Carl whispered.
"My names Maxie Woods. I'm twelve years old and wanted for a few things, I snuck across the border here to live with my uncle and grandpa. They helped me change my identity. Jackson is my moms madden name. Woods is my dads. He died when I was six and my mother when I was ten. I left before child's services took me. I did what I had to to live."
"You just lied. All the time. To them. To me" he whispered the last part.
"Trust me when I say I really like you" I whispered. He looked shocked and walked closer to me and cupped my face in his hands and gave me a perfect, real kiss that I gladly smiled into.
"I like you to" he said well placing his forehead on mine.

Just then I was grabbed by the arms and pulled away but T-dog and Shane.
I asked what was going on but they just threw me tied up in the barn.
I got up and walked over to the door to listen.
"Josefine-" Rick started.
"Maxie" Shane spat.
"Right. Maxie is a threat, we will be taking vote for her execution tonight." Rick finished.
My eyes grew wide and I fell back.
"Dad no! She's twelve! She my friend! Maybe more, I don't know!" Carl yelled.
"You and Sophia are out of the vote." Shane said. I heard Carl argue more but couldn't make out what he was saying.

Shane's POV

This is perfect! Voting time!
"Those who want her gone by death" I smiled.
Andrea, t-dog, Patricia, Hershel, Lori, my self, and Rick all held our hands up.
"Left in the group" Rick asked
Carol, Dale, Daryl, Glenn, Maggie, and Beth held their hands up.
"I don't want her near my son!" Lori cried.
"She saved my daughter!" Carol yelled.
"She could steal our supplies or kill on of us!" Rick yelled back.
"She's a kid! Not a killer!" Dale shouted.
"The paper said she threatened" I spoke.
"Didn't kill anyone!" Beth spat at me.
"I want my girls safe" Hershel said.
"It will be done tomorrow night" Rick announced before we all split up.

Carl's POV

I snuck down the stairs to here what was going on, leaving Sophia alone.
"It will be done tomorrow night" I heard my dad call.
I got up and dashed for the back door. After getting outside I snuck around to the barn to see Jose- Maxie. She was still beautiful and I couldn't help it, I will miss her brown eyes though but love the green more.
The barn had a padlock on it so I had to climb through a hole in the roof. After getting in I ran up to her, since it was dark she didn't see me coming so I placed a hand in her mouth so she wouldn't scream.
"J- Maxie it's me, Carl" I whispered. She turned around and wrapped her hands around my neck the best she could with her tied up hands and buried her head in my chest and cried.
"When is it?" She whispered.
"Tomorrow night" I said well tears filled my eyes, I placed my head on hers.
"Why don't you hate me? I'm two lying people , one a sweet kid and one a criminal" she chuckled.
"I can't hate you. Because I'm madly in love with both of you" he smiled.
"Josefines dead. Will this girl do" she said' looking down at herself, I smirked.
"Yeah, I think I like Maxie much more. Dark and mysterious." I smiled. She laughed and I rubbed my thumb over her tears.
"I don't know how my dad feels though because he's a cop" I laughed.
"Do you really love me?" She whispered.
"More then anything" I smiled.
"Do you?" I whispered.
"Love at first sight" she whispered back.
I leaned in to kiss her just then the doors swung open.
"Carl get away from her" Shane screamed and pushed me to the side and back handed Maxie. Tears formed but she tried to stay strong.
"Shane what the matter with you?" I screamed running over to Maxie. She fell to the ground holding her cheek and I was instantly at her side.
I lifted her head up and her cheek was already swelled and bleeding. I ran a thumb over it and she flinched.
"Carl!" Shane yelled, gripping tightly on my shoulder. He dragged me out and through me on the ground.
"Stay away from her" I screamed.He walked in the barn and locked it from the inside. I slammed my hands on the door constantly has I heard her scream.

Maxie's (Josefines) POV

Has Shane locked the door I was instantly more scared. Has he stepped closer I backed away till I hit the wall. I let out a scream has he put more force into the slap across the same cheek. It felt like he was putting a match to my face. I took beating after beating by his fists, knees, and feet before giving up. I could still hear Carls shouts and begs for him to stop.

"This Is My group" Shane whispered harshly in my ear before unlocking the door and Carl ran past him to my aid but failed when Shane grabbed his arm..

"Maxie! Oh god" Carl screamed has Shane pulled him away. I lowered my  head in shame.

"You will see her tomorrow night" Shane smirked.

So Josefine is really Maxie. The next chapters will be interesting.
