Chapter 36: Deal

Gov's POV

"Go in through there, were that wall has been torn, kill them all"
We are discussing an attack plan for the prison. Clearly, I want them dead. Maxie Woods the most. Her head can join the rest if my collection.

Maxie's POV

"Carl's going to be so mad at me!" I was suppose to meet Carl back at the apartment two hours ago. "Who cares. It's time to adventure my dear friend" "god I missed you. I talk like that around other people and I'm immature." "Well we aren't other people are we?" she smiled, pulling her long brunette hair back from her brown eyes and native skin. "Not even close" I smiled, loading my gun.

We walked over to the steal door I found before and she passed me some finger mittens and a bobby-pin for me to pick the lock with (the mittens because the handles cold, freezing cold) The lock gave away with a small 'click' and we slowly walked in, guns ready. Once the door closed behind us, we were in the dark. Well mostly, there was a dim light at the end of a long hallway. "Well then. Spooky" I mumbled. "No kidding" she whispered. I walked forward towards the end of the hallway, AnnaBeth close on my heals Once we were at the end there were several more hallways but at the moment we stood in front of two heavy steal doors. A scream could be heard from the left of. "Glenn!" I shouted we'll trying to open the door. "locked... Bobby-pin" I whispered quickly. After she handed me the bobby-pin I tried to get the lock open. After five minutes it opened. And there was Glenn, panting by a dead walker. "Nice job" I smiled. "AnnaBeth, get Maggie, I'll help Glenn" AnnaBeth nodded before darting to the room next to us. "Who's she?" Glenn managed to say. "My bestie, now let's g-" I started. "Go? Not this moment. Maxie, nice to see you again" Smiled the Gov, Andrea standing behind him, scowling at her I looked back to Phillip. Shit. AnnaBeth, run.

From behind the two I saw AnnaBeth helping Maggie out of the steal door AnnaBeth looked at me and placed her hand on her gun and I gave a small shake of the head and she silently stepped out of the building. "Merle!" Shouted Phillip, and there stood him, why can't Merle see The Gov is just using him? He's a puppet and Phillip is the master.

Merle was coming towards us "Let Glenn go and I'll come with you willingly!" I almost shouted. Phillip looked like he was considering my deal. "But you have to take him to the prison, and I get to come to make sure you don't kill him" "Maxie-" Glenn said in a warning tone. "You would do that for him?" Andrea asked. "Him and the rest of the group, their my family" I whispered, feeling the tears come. "Deal" Phillip shouted with happiness. "Martinez, start the truck. Merle grab the girl"

"This is stupid, his going to kill you!" Glenn whispered. "If he'll leave you all alone... it's worth it" We pulled up to the prison and Glenn stepped out. With out even letting us say our goodbyes, Phillip drove away. I looked out the back window at Glenn who stood there watching us drive away. Just before he was out of sight I saw someone, Daryl I think, open the gate.

AnnaBeth's POV

We all sat in the small living room in silence until I finally mumbled "She said to go" "And you just left!" Carl cried. "She will be alright! She always is!" Maggie shouted. "You really think that? This is The Governor were talking about!" "Carl, were going back for her" I said, calm but determined. "Yeah, now" He agreed. "I'm coming" Lukas stood up, grabbing my hand. "I'll get the van, Lulu-" Carol started. "Where Lulu" We all looked around. "Screw it, lets leave without her" Carl snapped. "Carl!" Sophia gasped. "He's right" Carol sighed. "Maxie knew something was odd about her and Lulu" "Lucky is Phillips daughter" Maggie spat. "What?!" Everyone, but myself and Lukas (since we never really knew her anyways) were shocked. "Yeah, she was with him all the time, he sent her to spy on us. Now, he's going to attack the prison... Kill her first or use her has a weakness for us" "we need to get her-" "You can leave. Glenn has already been sent back to the prison, you can leave now to... that is all" Martinez said before just leaving. We were shocked. I cased after him. "Martinez! What happened to Maxie" "She's fine... I'll keep an eye on her" he sighed. "You promise?" I asked, giving him my best puppy dog face. "Promise" he ran a hand through his hair. "Be good. Stay safe" He ruffled my hair. Martinez is a good man, he rescued me and Lukas and brought us here. I also knew him before this... He was like an older brother to me, after my father died and my mom became an alcoholic and drug addict (whom later committed suicide), he let me live with him and the orphan boy with the cute English accent, Lukas, who was kinda like his son. "You too" and with that he kissed my forehead and became walking away. I turned around and was about to head inside when he shouted down the hallway "Tell Autumn I love her ok?" "I will!" I yelled back. I always knew he loved Maxie's sister... I could see it in his eyes.

"We need to leave, warn Rick!" Carol said, worried. "Oh and who's going to tell Daryl about Maxie!" Maggie cried. "Glenn probably did" Carl sighed. "Vans ready. Lets go. Oh and tell my baby brotha I said hey. got it?" Carl nodded and we loaded in the van. I hugged Maxis backpack close to my chest. Curious what was in here that was so heavy I opened the bag. There can goods and a few water bottles and a note with Maxie's slightly messy writing across the paper for the group. I put everything back but the note, her iPod and the black vest with wings. I went looking through photos of me and her and saw some of her and Carl. My eyes filled with tears.

It was snowing hard by the time we were dropped off at the prison. Me and Lukas were introduced and we were given a cell to share and I got top bunk. Dropping off our bags I walked over to where Daryl, Maxie's sorta dad, was. "Daryl? I'm AnnaBeth... Maxie told me about you... Here" I handed him the black leather material and apologized. "Fr' what?" he asked. "I never should have left her" I mumbled. "It's not your fault. I never should of let her go. Heck I never even knew she left with 'em till Hershel said she ain't here. I'm glad I got to meet you though. I heard great story's about you. You a good person. Would never hurt Maxie" "Daryl?" "Mhm?" "Can I have a hug?" I whispered. He hesitated before nodding and opening his arms for me. "You give just has good of hugs as her" Daryl mumbled. I could hear him trying not to cry, his body was shaking slightly and I knew he was.

"We will get her back. I promise"
