"Family of Jaeson Carter." A short, black female doctor with salt and pepper hair announced.
I stood along with Jaecob and my mother.
"Hi. I'm Doctor Elite. We have some good news and some bad news. Which would you like first?" She asked.
"The bad news," my mother sighed.
"Well, the bad news is, Mr. Carter will have to stay in the hospital under close watch by our nurses for a little under four months and he is in a medically induced coma. The good news is, our final descisions were to keep Mr. Carter on life support. He began showing little progress this morning and is now breathing on his own." Dr. Elite smiled.
My mother broke down in tears, almost causing her to loose her balance as Jaecob and I caught her. "Thank God. C-can we see him now?"
"Well, Mr. Carter is just out of surgery and probably won't be opening his eyes for another few weeks, but he can hear you. If you wish to see him, follow me two at a time."
Jaceob and my mother followed closley behind Dr. Elite as she led them to the room. I honestly didn't want to see my father. It's not that I didn't want to see him period, I just hate seeing him laid up in hospital beds, suffering. But Christian being Christian, she urged me to go back and see him. He looked...peaceful despite having IV's and machines and needles attached to his body.
I'm glad Christian did get me to see him, because it'll probably be the last time until he opens his eyes up.
"Thank you, Christian." I said randomly as we sat at this frozen yogurt spot.
"For what?" She asked, mindlessly scooping frozen yogurt into her mouth.
"Everything. For being there for me. Opening your spot up for me. Just for being you and helping me stay positive through all this." I spoke genuinely.
"Aw, you know I ain't going no where Jojo. You're welcome, boo. I'm always here." She smiled.
"I love you, Christian."
She toyed with the white napkin between her black nails before staring deep into my eyes. "I love you too, bestfriend."
If only I meant it that way.
We finished our yogurt before I had to take Christian home. I had business to handle. Niggas owed me money.
"Listen Dackari," I turned a chair backwards and sat in it, looking at his bloody face. "That money is nothing but chump change to me, bruh. But if I don't have it by tomorrow, you're going to regret it. I wanna help you Dackari, honestly. But how can I help you if you don't help me?"
"I'm sorry, King! Listen man, I swear on my baby girl's life that I'll have your money. I just need time." He pleaded.
I rose from my chair and smacked him across the face with my gun, feeling myself become heated.
"You were supposed to have my shit TWO FUCKING WEEKS AGO!" I shouted, as I began pacing in front of his chair.
I bent down to his level, careful not the crease my low top 11s.
"You've witnessed first what happens when I let my killas go, Dackari. Don't be that dude. I know you just had a baby and you got another on the way. You have 48 hours to have me my money, Dackari. I gave you a 24 hour extention to show you that I really do care." I said.
"Untie this nigga so he can go make my money." I ordered to one of my henchmen.
"Yes, boss." He said quickly
