Jesse's pov
"I miss you." The words ring through my head as a warm feeling grows from inside me, "I miss you too." A small chuckle comes from the other side of the phone, "hey Beca? Wanna go get some ice cream?" I wait nervously for a reply, "ice cream? Yeah, okay I guess. Pick me up though?" I smile as I grab my keys, pulling on my shoes as I race out the door, "be there in a minute!" I hang up the phone as I get in my car. Is this really happening? Did Beca Mitchell just tell me she missed me? I'm going to start hyperventilating if I don't calm myself down soon.I decide to text Beca instead of going up to the apartment. Soon enough she is tapping on my car door. I unlock the door for her and she gets into the seat. "Hey nerd," that smile of hers, god, "ready?" Okay, okay be cool Jesse, be cool, "I-uhh- y-yeah." I stutter and stumble over my words, yeah really cool jesse. I quickly pull out of the car park and start on my way to the ice cream parlour.
Beca's pov
This car ride is undeniably awkward. I look over at the music player in Jesse's car and smile as I fumble through my bag, "mind if I put some music on?" Jesse shrugs and I put on the mixtape he have me for Christmas, I never did listen to it. A very familiar song floods the car and I feel my face and Jesse's light up as we begin to sing, don't you forget about me by simple minds.Soon enough Jesse has stopped the car outside the ice cream parlour and we walk in together. Taking a seat at a side booth I watch Jesse's face as he orders his ice cream, "uhh I'll have 2 scoops of chocolate in a bowl and Beca?" I snap back into reality, "huh? Oh the same but with chocolate chip." I give the girl a small smile as she walks away, "soo, I'm sorry I guess." Jesse laughs a bit at that, "listen Becs, there was a lot going on then and I'm sure you were very stressed so I understand." I shake my head a little, "do you hate me?" He shakes his head in reply as the girl comes back with our ice cream, "here you go guys, oh, Beca Mitchell right?" I nod smiling a little, "I'm a big fan of your work." She's smiling wider then I've ever seen Jesse smile, it's adorable. "Awe, thank you! Did you want a selfie or?" Her eyes go wide as she nods excitedly looking around before pulling out her phone and passing it to me. I take a couple of photos with the girl before giving her a quick hug, it's not often I get recognised, being a producer. As she leaves I see Jesse smiling at me and I give him a confused look, "that was really sweet Becs. She's a definite music geek." I nod in agreement, "oh yeah. Hey Jesse I need to ask you a favour." He raises his eyebrows as I glance down at the floor, prepare for rejection Beca, "uhh, my dad is getting married to Sheila, and I'm going to be a bridesmaid, don't ask. But the thing is they want you to be my partner, because they think we're still dating." I trail off at the end as I try to read Jesse's reaction, "they want me to be a grooms man? Bec's I'd love to, mainly because I know you are going to need someone to complain to." I laugh, this guy knows me too well.
