Beca's pov
"Benji, what are you doing here?" I pull away from the hug and stand there in utter shock until I realise I'm being super awkward, "uh, come on in." Benji smiles and walks past me, looking around my room in awe, "I hope my room is as magical as your's!" I laugh at his comment while I close the door, "well Benj, neither of them are as magical as you." He laughs as we sit on the couch to have a chat. Turns out that Benji has been planning a week-long trip to London for months. After talking for about an hour Benji pipes up again, "Do you want to come check out my room with me? I haven't put any of my stuff in there yet." I smile politely, nodding, "Yeah, I'd love to! Just let me fix up my face and hair real quick." Benji laughs as I scutter into the bathroom. I take one look in the mirror and groan. I can't believe I answered the door looking like this! My dark eye make-up has travelled from my eyelids down to underneath them making my bags look darker than usual. I quickly touch up my face and brush all of the knots out of my hair. Eventually I emerge from the bathroom to see Benji texting on his phone, "I'm ready when you are Benj!" He looks up at me with wide eyes, "oh-ah yeah I'm good when you are! Oh, I mean let's go." I raise my eyebrows as he heads for the door but brush off his weirdness with a shake of my head.
After going for a wander around Benji's room we sit down to continue talking. About half an hour later my stomach grumbles loudly and a bright blush crawls up my neck, "sorry. Hungry." I mumble quietly, Benji chuckles as he pulls out his phone, "pizza?" I feel a wide smile creep onto my face as I nod wildly. Benji calls up a number and orders a pizza for us.
45 minutes later a loud knock rings through the hotel room. "Hey Beca can you get that while I find some change?" Benji asks leaving the room. I walk over to the door and open it up to reveal a mans back, "uhh, excuse me, can I help you?" The man turns around with a pizza in his arms dressed up in a dashing black suit, "I actually believe you can." A huge smile breaks onto my face as I envelope Jesse in a hug, "Jess! What are you doing here?" Jesse laughs as he tries to hold the pizza in one hand whilst keeping me from knocking him over. Benji clears his throat behind us, "here Benji, do you mind if I steal this beautiful young lady from you? In return you'll get a pizza." Benji laughs as he takes the pizza from Jesse. Jesse closes the door to their hotel room and begins to lead me to mine. I unlock the door and let Jesse in, "should I be dressing up Jesse?" He nods before pecking me on the cheek. I laugh as I stand on my tippy-toes to give him a proper kiss, "I'll be right back." A couple of minutes later I've redone my hair and make-up as well as changed into the dress from the lake. "Jesse," the nerd turns to face me with his jaw slacked, "you know you have seen me in this dress before, nerd." I giggle as I use my hand to shut his mouth properly. He shakes his head before taking my arm and leading me out of the hotel to a waiting car.
"Jess, where are we going?" I look over at Jesse as he leads me down the sidewalk, catching a small gleam in his eye, "I mean I trust you and all but if you murder me in London I'm going to haunt you for the rest of your life." Jesse scoffs as he continues to drag me along, "maybe I should murder you then." He strings a smirk onto his face and winks at me. I jab him in the ribs with my elbow, but to be honest that smirk could kill me. After a little while of walking and laughing Jesse digs his heels into the ground, bringing us to a halt. "Shall we dine, milady?" Jesse holds out his arm as he puts on a terrible english accent. "Sure why not."
Jesse and I pick up our jackets as we head back out into the night. "Back to the hotel now, lover boy?" He laughs as he shakes his head. Taking my hand in his and dragging me down the street. I trail behind Jesse for a few minutes until we are at The River Thames, "Jesse what are doing here?"I whisper as he grins proudly at me. I look at him confused until I notice something floating behind him, "is this even legal, Jess?" A small rowboat with little tealights is tied to the edge wjere it awaits us, "for a certain sum of money, yes." I laugh as he helps me into the small vessle that wobbles under my feet. Once I'm in Jesse follows suit, slowly tiptoeing into the boat careful not to capsize it. Off he rows as I cling to the edges for stability. Once we're away from the edges I begin to relax and Jesse pulls the oars into the boat grabbing hold of my hands delicately. For awhile we just sit there watching eachothers eyes in the flickering candlelight. I fill the silence with a few delicate words, "Jess. This is so," I struggle to find the words to describe tonight and settle upon a beautiful, 7 letter one, "perfect." He smiles proudly, "only the best for my favourite person." I roll my eyes at his cheesiness and even add a small scoff, "oh please, everyone knows you like Benji better than me." Our laughs fill the space of the boat and topple off the edges into the river. Jesse leans forward and picks up the chain hanging around my neck, "you're wearing the necklace I got you." I blush and look down as Jesse puts the chain back. I fiddle with the charms, "yeah, always." There's a cold silence that fills the air, as if we are the only people alive, "I still love you Beca." I swallow hard. I desperately want to say those three words he wants to hear, but it feels wrong to steal his night, "I know." My voice comes out as a whisper as Jesse begins to row us to shore.
Our walk home is quiet, but it's a peaceful silence. Jesse's fingers are intertwined with mine and my head rests on his shoulder. All too soon we've the door to my room. I stand in my doorway, awkwardly, as we try to say goodbye, "so, I uh- better get back to Benji." I nod slowly, biting my lip before blurting out, "stay with me? I- uh- could you? I mean, it wouldn't be the first time." I chuckle nervously, scratching the back of my neck, "anytime, Becs." And that's where I spend my night, tucked away protectively in Jesse's arms.
Hopefully this chapter doesn't feel too rushed and is readable. I also hope that anyone reading it is enjoying it. Xx H
