The Past can Haunt you

Before I start, I want to dedicate this chapter to our fallen little weirdo, Madi. It's really sad that someone from our fandom has died because of self-harm and my heart goes out to her friends and family. <3

Chloe's pov
Jesse and I have been at the hospital for hours waiting to see how Beca is. I'm sitting in the waiting room next to Jesse texting Beca's parents when he slowly turns to me, "Chloe, why is Beca mad at me?" I sigh, this is a tough conversation to have with anyone. "Listen Jess, she's not mad at you, she's mad at herself." Jesse looks at me, a look of confusion washes over his face, "what do you mean?" He's barely able to get out the words, "listen Jess, Beca has these walls that she's put up, she doesn't believe in love or anything anymore. After she kissed you, being the cynical human being she is, she thought that she'd open up or trust you and you'd turn out to be a total ass."

Jesses pov
I'm a little taken aback and lost for words at Chloe's description. "Why would she think that," I wonder out loud. Chloe looks at me seriously, "the past can haunt you Jesse, but it's not my place to tell you anything about her past that's all up to you to find out." I sit back in my chair and let out a long sigh. It's my fault Beca's in there, I shouldn't have pushed her to breaking point. I can't just let her walk out of my life though, I have to do something.
