In the afternoon, it rained but Maya didn't care. She sat on the swing in the park, watching people walk by with umbrellas. Her hair was soaked as well as her close. She swung lightly back and fourth. She had stayed away from the park until Riley passed but once she did, she forgot that her teacher would also.
He almost walked by the girl but then he noticed something out of the corner of his eye. He turned to the girl who was looking down at her feet. He closed his umbrella, walked to the other swing and sat down. She looked up at him.
"You're crying."
She looked back down and whipped her tears away with the heal of her palm and then sniffled, trying to pull herself together but it wasn't working.
"I'm really worried about you. We all are. I don't know why you won't talk, why you didn't come to school, why you're out here in the rain." Maya didn't react. He drove the girl home and then went home himself.

Maya wasn't at school, again. Cory thought that she might have been sick from being out in the rain. On Friday, Maya was there again, drawing at her desk. When the bell rang, Lucas grabbed her arm.
"Why do you leave so quickly? Where are you going?"He noticed something peaking out from her shirt, just the slightest bit.
"What's this?" He asked, moving her shirt just the slightest bit before she pulled away. "Was that..."
"What's wrong?" Asked Riley.
"Thats a hickey." Said Lucas. Maya shook her head. "Then why did you pull away?" Maya just looked at him. "Is that a hickey?" She shook her head. "I don't think that I should trust you but I don't know if I really have an option because you won't speak." Maya grabbed her sketchbook and left.
