Maya sat in class on Monday with her sketchpad, again. Cory taught and occasionally tried to see what she was drawing but she had her arm blocking his view. Beneath her arm was the strong hand, gripping his belt that she was almost finished drawing. The bell rang and Maya basically ran out of the room and to the school library, where she could be alone to draw during lunch.
Maya did this the next day too and her friends were getting concerned.
On Wednesday, Maya wasn't there.
"We have a few minutes left so, work on some homework or something.
"She never misses school, dad. Somethings wrong." Said Riley, standing up as everyone went to their homework.
"I agree." Said Lucas, standing up. Farkle stood up too.
"I've known Maya for a long time and she's always here." Riley pulled out her phone and dialed her number, walking into the hallway, her friends following.
She answered but remained silent.
"Maya, are you okay? Right, how am I supposed to know? You're  not speaking."
She heard a few sounds. Some taps.
"Is this some code? Maya, I don't know any codes."
"Morse code?" Asked Lucas.
"I think." She passed the phone to him. The tapping was very light.
"Maya, start again. Are you okay?"
-.-- . ...
"She said yes." Suddenly, there was a bang and a voice.
"Get off the ph-" beep beep beep
"Why do you know morse code?"
"It can be useful. I'm the one who told Maya she should learn it."
"Well clearly it's useful know."
"She's not alone."
"What?"
The bell rang.
"What do we do?" Asked Riley.
"What can we do?" Asked Farkle.
"I don't know." Said Lucas. They all went to class but worriedly.
