Chapter 9

The car ride was a very silent one. Felicity was asleep, Vic was driving, and my lips were pressed in a tight line to keep from tears. My gut told me it's better to leave with Vic than to stay there and suffer, yet I was still having doubts.

The silent tune of the radio filled the awkwardness in the car by Vic. Every so often a sigh would escape his lips or he'd grip the steering wheel, leaving his knuckles white. It seemed like he was having a battle with himself. "Vic?" I finally broke the silence, and I knew I needed to. His eyes quickly shot to me with a simple turn of the head.

"Yea?" His voice can out in a silent, emotion filled whisper.

"Can we pull over- or maybe find a hotel? We both need sleep," Vic gulped and nodded, gripping the steering wheel as he changed lanes. "Thanks," I murmured, ringing my hands together as I looked out the window. It barely dawned on me that Vic had drove this long way simply to see me- if I'm right- and Felicity.

The gut feeling that I need to stay with Vic became a winning Tetris game as I let a small smile take over my frown. I turned in my seat to look back at Felicity, who was still sound asleep and dreaming. I nodded in content and sat back down in my seat as Vic made another turn. "You're a great mother you know," I smiled and looked over at Vic, whose eyes were already on me.

"Thanks," my voice came out quiet and I sounded weak. I hated that I sounded that way, but I couldn't help it.

"Did Avi take good care of her?" Chills went up my spine at the mention of his name. I just simply shook my head and folded my arms over my chest. "I figured." Vic's voice sounded cold and full of hate as he turned onto a street finally surrounded by buildings, stopping in front of a hotel.

"Thank you so much Vic," my voice came out stronger this time as I leaned over the console to place a gentle, quick kiss on his cheek. To cut off the awkwardness I opened the car door and opened Felicity's afterwards, carefully unbuckling her from the car, so that she was still securely in her car seat.

"I'll g-get the bags," I nodded and waited patiently on the sidewalk for Vic to grab the bags.

(Vic's P.O.V)
Fuck. She just kissed my cheek, and now here I am, losing my cool right in front of her. I grabbed both of our bags first and then Felicity's, slinging it on my free arm. I gave (f/n) a weak smile and followed her in to the hotel. She was the one to go to the front desk, though. I still can't get over that she kissed me.

Even though it was on my cheek, it was something. I guess it's cliché to say I felt a spark in my heart when she did, but it's true. Just something about (f/n) always draws me to her. No matter how far away we are, or how big of a fight we had, I'm always drawn to her. Even when we aren't together, like now, I still want to cuddle her and whisper my feelings for her in her ear.

I'm just helplessly in love with someone who most likely doesn't feel the same. But that's my fault.

(Your P.O.V)
Vic and I walked to our room with the room key in my hand. Vic started to act more strange after I kissed him on the cheek. I probably shouldn't have done that, I ruined tonight for him most likely. I pushed the key into the lock and the door opened with a small click. I pushed the door open and stepped inside, Vic closing the door behind me.

The room was spacious, with two twin sized beds, an arm chair, two night stands, a TV with movies and a remote below it, and a small mini fridge filled with waters. Right next to the door was a bathroom, fully equipped with a shower, thank god. I stepped further into the room and set Felicity gently on one of the beds, carefully I strapping her from her car seat.

Vic set our bags on the other bed while I carefully lifted Felicity from the car seat. Sighing, I noticed the lifting woke her, and now she was crying. She wasn't a loud cryer, but the sound still breaks my heart. "Vic can you hold her for a sec?" His eyes widened before he nodded and I gently set her in his arms, heading to the bathroom so I could work the stupid pump I bought.

But I stopped my movements when Felicity's cries stopped. I tip toed back to the living room to see Vic's back facing me, his body gently rocking and little soothing hums leaving his lips. My heart swelled at the sight as I quietly walked towards him, his singing growing slightly louder. "You're great at singing," I whispered with a giggle, watching as Vic struggled to hold onto her after being scared.

"God, you scared me!" Vic whisper-shouted, holding Felicity close to his chest. To clarify, he held a sleeping Felicity close to his chest.

"You got her to sleep?" Vic shrugged and I smiled, looking down at the little bundle that was our daughter. "Hold on a sec," I took a blanket off of each of the beds, and set one down on one bed, making it into a little egg shaped thing. I opened my arms and Vic carefully placed Felicity in them, and once I had her I set her gently in the little thing I made with blankets.

I took the second blanket and draped it over her body, tucking the ends around her so she'd stay warm. I placed pillows from the bed she laid in around her, making sure to cushion her head and any sides around her. "Done," I finished with a smile, leaning down and placing a gentle kiss on both of her cheeks.

I turned back around and Vic stood there, his eyes full of amazement as he looked at me. "You're such an amazing mother (f/n)," He whispered in astonishment. He then leaned down, kissing Felicity's forehead. It was such a sweet gesture I never once saw Avi do. "I'll make a bed on the floor," Vic told me, but I stopped him by placing a hand on his arm.

"No, we can sleep on the bed together." Vic eyes me curiously and I sighed, running a hand through my hair as he looked at me. "It's okay, really," he nodded and sat on one side of the bed, while I sat on the other side.

He leaned over and wrapped his arms around me, giving me a tight hug. "I'm glad you chose to come with me," Vic whispered, not wanting to wake Felicity.

"Me too," Vic looked over at me with a smile. I got under the covers, followed by Vic as we both stared up at the ceiling.

"Do you want to talk about it?" I raised an eyebrow. "About Avi, what happened after you left," I tore my gaze from Vic and up again at the ceiling and nodded.

"Actually, yea." Vic turned on his side so he was facing me and I did the same, finding myself incredibly close to him. Our noses almost touched, considering the size of the bed we're laying on. "Well, it all started the day I left. I was walking around for awhile and eventually decided to go to a McDonald's. I went inside, and someone was trying to steal something of mine and Avi stopped them. We talked for a bit and he offered that I can stay at his place. Being in the position I was in I accepted," A sigh escaped Vic's lips, his cool breath tickling my neck.

"At first I was just there for the time being, but he was a great person. He'd treat me- do thing like shop with me, take me to dinner, and one night he asked if I would be his girlfriend, and I accepted. He always said it didn't matter that I was pregnant with a baby that isn't his. He never seemed to mind it,"

"That's a load," Vic muttered and I couldn't help but laugh at the comment.

"Yeah, and it went on perfectly for awhile. Until you called me that one time and it all changed for me. As embarrassing as it is to say, I just couldn't stop thinking about you every second of the day. It made Avi and I's relationship go down hill because I often declined dates and things because I felt guilty, for some reason. Then you actually showed up, and you know the rest." I finished with a sigh, closing my eyes.

"I'm glad you got away from him. I don't care what our relationship is, I need to make sure you're safe." I smiled at him, the grin never leaving my face as I rolled onto my back. "I said that out loud, didn't I?" I laughed and nodded, pulling the blankets up to my chin.

"Let's get some sleep, there's gonna be a lot of driving tomorrow." Vic nodded in agreement and I sighed, turning off the lamp beside me and closing my eyes. "Goodnight Vic," I murmured, closing my eyes.

"Goodnight (f/n)," I heard slight rustling before it all went silent.

But what I won't forget is Vic whispering three special words into my ear.
