Chapter 9 - Ben
"I leave for one second, and everything goes into chaos!" I said as I looked at the mess that was in front of me.
"Ben, this boy..."
"Is my brother" I cut in. "Morgan, meet Seth."
"Sup?" said Seth.
Groaning, Morgan slid off of Seth. I picked up his shirt and threw it at him. I knew that Seth and Alex's meeting might be interesting, but I had hoped it wouldn't be like this.
I rounded up our quartet and herded them into the control room. Someone had to do some serious explaining.
"Alright," I began. "spill it." Everyone started talking at once.
"Hey, hey...HEY!" I exclaimed. "One person at a time please! Alex, you go first."
"Thank you. Right then, my side of the story. After I, well, after I went off on Morgan, sorry about that by the way, I went into the center of the mall. I heard a crash, and I went to investigate. When I got to the source, sunny boy over there came out of the closet or something. I hid, but then I decided it would be of better if I followed him. After a while, he took a course to the control room, and I figured I had to stop him. I stopped him alright."
"Oh, that's why I was on top of you, right?" Seth sarcastically remarked.
"Seth, that's enough. So I assume you have a different story?"
"Well, mostly the same, except I knew she was following me the whole time."
Great, so nothing actually happened. This is a big mess made up of nothing.
"Well, Alex, Seth is my brother, he isn't an enemy" I explained.
"And Alex is my niece," Added Morgan. "Not the enemy. Although if I ever find you on top of her with that much skin showing again, you're going to wish you were."
"Alright. Well, we seem to have this straightened out. You too go back out there for a minute. I would like to talk to Morgan for a minute. Alone."
"What? You want me to go out there with her? She just attacked me." Seth protested.
"You certainly weren't very charming yourself. Morgan, help me out here." Alex responded.
"Alex, go. Listen to Ben." Morgan quickly dismissed.
"Whatever."
As soon as they shut the door, I stopped holding it in. I started laughing uncontrollably. At first, Morgan looked at me like I was insane, but he joined me after a few moments.
"That," Morgan began. "was interesting. I never thought I would have to pull your brother off of Alex."
"And I never thought that Alex would rip off Seth's shirt." I responded while still laughing.
After a few seconds, Morgan broke the silence, "So is this what you really needed to talk to me about? You know, in private."
"No, no it's not. Morgan, I want to inform you on what's happening. And I would also like some information from you, if that is acceptable. Morgan, someone ratted us out."
"You don't say," Morgan responded, full of sarcasm. "I saw the NASR soldiers coming before they even knew where they were going. I ran to the living compartments and grabbed Alex. I just figured this would be the safest place, and I thought it was possible that some resistance members might be here. I'm sorry for jumping on you by the way. I just didn't want to let Alex get hurt. No chances, ready fire aim."
"I hear you. I would do the same for Seth, but he is pretty independent. I think he can handle himself. They attacked us at night, I had to shoot them. There were only two, but still, they had found me, and that was enough to terrify me. I came here for the same reasons as you. I didn't even think of anyone else being here."
"Who do you think was the rat?" Asked Morgan
"I'm not sure, but I have some suspicions." I said honestly.
"Victor?" Morgan suggested. "I never did trust him. He was just...slimy."
"Victor has been considered. No one can be ruled out though"
"So what are we going to do now?" Morgan asked.
"We can't stay forever. Eventually, they will find us. We need to set up defenses until we can figure out a safer place to go. Can Alex shoot a gun?"
"Well," Morgan started to say. "I wouldn't know. As far as I know, she has never shot one, but she does always seem to find food someway. Who knows?"
"So, I take that as a no." I said. "Well Seth doesn't know either, so I suppose we will have to teach them."
I walked over to the corner of the room. There was a hidden button, and when I pressed it, my secret storage room opened up.
"Come on in." I invited Morgan.
Guns by the dozens. This was the safest place for me to keep them, so I did. All of the guns I had obtained recently went here. Not only did I have guns, I had supplies, cameras, laser trip wires, armor, and explosives. Armor and laser devises were among the hardest to acquire. I had to make many sacrifices to get them. But my most prized possession were two pairs of night vision goggles.
"Benjamin! You have outdone yourself. This is enough to start a mini revolution." Morgan complimented.
"Well Morgan, that's just what I had in mind."
