Chapter 10 - Seth

We walked in silence for a while. I guess we had nothing to say to each other

"So..." She abruptly and awkwardly choked out. "Do you like...cheese?" Cheese? I. I don't even know if I like cheese. I haven't had it since my 6th birthday.

"Cheese?" I laughed. "Wow you're bad with guys aren't you?"

"Well I don't have much experience okay? And you aren't making it any easier" she responded.

I glanced over at her for the second time since I first saw her. I remember when I first saw her, peeking out from behind a wall trying to follow me. I couldn't figure out why she would be follow me. She had long mahogany colored hair that reached down just past her shoulders. Her eyes were a mix of blue and green, confusing, but beautiful. She wasn't very tall, about 5' 4" probably. Overall, I guess she wasn't too bad looking.

"I am going to go walk around again." I managed when she noticed me looking at her.

"No," She said. "Morgan said we need to stay here."

"Actually, Ben said to leave. He didn't specify where he wanted us. But suit yourself" I shot back with a grin. I started to walk off back into the mall.

There was an interesting sign I past that said had an arrow on it with the text "Food Court". The thought of food made my stomach hurt. I haven't eaten today, which isn't anything new. Sometimes when we go hunting, we don't even see anything. But Ben had said something earlier about there being things called restaurants here, and that they supplied and even cooked your food for you. I didn't expect them to have people there still, but maybe there are some leftovers from when people still inhabited this place.

"Wait," Interjected Alex abruptly. "I...I want to come. I don't feel safe here."

"You certainly were fine following me around alone a few minutes ago." I pointed out.

"Just deal with it. I am coming."

Great, just what I wanted. I was going to walk around to get away from her, not to spend more time around her. I don't even know this girl. I just saw her following me, and then attacking me. But there isn't anything I can do, I suppose. All I know is that Ben better have a great reason for having her here.

I started towards the food court. I think. I sort of just guessed a direction and followed it. It's not like there is a time limit. Rather aimlessly, we wondered through the mall in silence. Silence is completely fine with me. There is nothing I need to discuss with Alex.

"So," Alex started, to my dismay. "how do Morgan and your brother know each other?"

"I could ask you the same thing. Ben never mentioned him to me. We could assume that they know each other through the resistance."

"What is 'the resistance' anyway?"

"How should I know? Its not like Ben has ever told me about it or anything!" I bit my lip. I didn't mean for it to come out so harshly.

"Well I'm sorry for trying to have a conversation with you. I forgot we were sworn enemies. I'll just shut my mouth then." Alex said, obviously annoyed at me. Good, silence was the goal from the start.

We wandered for a while in complete, peaceful silence, and finally came across the food court sign. I lead the way, with Alex nearly on my feet behind me. I swear I cannot figure her out. At some moments, she seems fearless and daring, and others she is scared and childlike.

"So where are you taking me?" Inquired Alex, out of the blue.

"I thought we were sworn enemies. I was just beginning to enjoy the silence"
