Lucy
Tonight's meal was fairly plain, just a few steamed vegetables and mashed potato. It was quiet with only the sound being the scraping cutlery, echoed because of the shear size of the room.
I wasn't particularly hungry after being reminded of Melody. So I just picked at my food and tried to forget.
The front door was suddenly opened with a loud BANG which caused Gloria to drop her fork with a steamed carrot stabbed through it.
The Professor stormed through the door to the dinning room.
"Leave me and my daughter for a moment, Gloria." He stated, as though he was impatient.
Gloria was fast to comply and quickly exited the room. I looked at my father with a slack expression. I obviously will never forgive him for Melody.
"Lucy, I have fantastic news." He looked a little disheveled and a bit too excited for my liking.
"What is it?" I wasn't really interested but I asked anyway.
"You've finally reached maturity!" I had no idea what he was implying. I my opinion I had reached maturity at the age of ten.
He then started mumbling things to himself, but I caught a few words.
"They will sprout soon"
"Must give her the tablet."
"My experiment worked."
"Professor, what are you talking about?" None of this made sense to me.
"Have you been watching the news lately, my girl?"
"No, I've been busy with studies." I couldn't understand what he was getting so worked up over.
He quickly lead me to the lounge room and turned on the television, changing it to the news channel.
On the screen was a boy, a few years older than me from what I could tell by the horrible video quality, skydiving.
There was also a woman, but she looked as though she was in distress. She was flailing around everywhere and eventually ran into the boy.
I watched silently in sadistic curiosity as the parachutes tangled and they began to fall, not glide.
After a few moments, I noticed something off about the boy, there was a lump in his back and his eyes-I held back a gasp- from what I could make out, his eyes were a pale beige colour.
Suddenly, the lump on his back stretched and two giant brown wings sprouted from his back.
The video cut and the news woman started talking;
This video was captured just hours ago by a bystander who witnessed this extraordinary event.
The boy has been identified as Tyler Owens, a seventeen year old who had his first skydiving activity earlier today.
Tyler is now in the local hospital. If there are any updates on the situation we will let you know.
Professor Goldberg then turned off the TV and turned to me.
