I waited until class was starting before I got in my car to drive to the school. I decided that I was going to go in late and leave early. I walked into class about a half an hour late.

"So nice of you to join us Rae," Carlie says in an irritated manner as I walk by.

I ignore her and go sit down and begin typing. I am working on my lessons for about twenty minutes when Carlie comes up behind me.

"Rae, I would like to talk to you please," She says.

I try to ignore her.

"Rae. In the hallway now," She says sternly leaving no room for argument.

I push away from my desk and follow her out into the hallway. She keeps walking.

"Where are we going?" I ask.

"Somewhere where we won't be heard, let's go for a little walk," She says leading me out to the smokers' area behind the building.

She sits on the bench and pats the seat next to her. I sit down. My plan is to sit here and be silent so that I don't say something that I will regret later.

She lights a cigarette that I didn't even know she had with her. "About last night Rae," She starts.

"I'm sorry!" I say interrupting her.

She laughs at me.

"Rae. I don't regret it. I just regret the way it happened. I wanted to wait until we knew each other better and wait until the "right moment" I still want to continue seeing you, if you want to continue seeing me," She tells me.

"Carlie I'm sorry I came in late today. I was just scared when I woke up and you were gone. I figured that you were mad at me and I didn't want to face you when we would be alone. I apologize," I tell her.

"It's alright. Just don't let it happen too often because I will dock you points if you show up late. I won't play favorites. I tried to wake you up when I left for work this morning but you growled at me to leave you alone. So I did. That's why I didn't text or call you today," Carlie tells me.

I smile. "We should probably get back to class. I still have a bit to do to get caught up after being late," I tell her standing up and holding the door for her.

I go back to my seat and begin typing again. I can feel Angela itching to ask questions beside me but surprisingly she holds her tongue. When its break time between classes and everyone files out and Angela, Carlie and I are the only ones left in the room Angela starts with her questions.

"What happened?" Angela whispers.

"Nothing," I say.

"Something happened otherwise she wouldn't have pulled you out of the class to talk to you," She whispers.

"Angela. It's nothing. Don't worry about it. We're okay," I say.

"Oh thank god! I was going to have to do some ass kicking," She says.

Carlie laughs. "I'd like to see you try to kick my ass Angela. I don't think you'd have very good luck," Carlie says.

Angela blushes. I stare at her and laugh. It's a rarity to see her blush and when it happens I get a kick out of it. Carlie laughs too. Drawing class flies by quickly. It seems that when I can get into the mode of right brained thinking time just eludes me and before I know it it's time to go home.

I am so lost in my world that when I look up from my drawing book I'm the only one left besides Carlie.

"Wow? What time is it?" I ask.

"You still have about five minutes before class is officially over, I figured I'd let you go you seemed really into your work. Don't worry I wouldn't have let you stay here," She tells me.

"Oh well thanks for not interrupting me. But I think I'm going to pack up now," I say gathering my things into my bag.

I stroll out towards the door. Carlie grabs me by the arm.

"Huh?" I ask.

"I think I'm going to go home tonight. I think we need a day or two away from each other after last night," She tells me.

"Oh. Okay," I say trying to mask the disappointment in my voice.

"Rae, don't do that. You'll make me feel guilty. I've just been thinking. And I think it would be best that way. Are you guys still going over to High Octane tomorrow night?" She asks.

"Probably. We usually do on Friday nights," I tell her.

"Maybe I'll see you there," She says and releases my arm.

I have nothing else to do so I leave the room to find Angela. She is waiting outside the classroom for me. We are both silent until we get outside.

"Wow babe, you sounded heartbroken in there," Angela points out.

"I know. I don't know how I let this happen. I hardly know Carlie, but I think I'm in love. I yearn for the time that we get to spend together," I tell Angela.

"AAAHHH!!! This is so exciting!" She screams dancing around me in circles.

"Angela you are nuts. Want to crash at my place and watch a movie?" I ask her.

"Hells yeah. We can finish off that case of Bud," She says skipping to our vehicles.

Angela and I went back to my place and turned on the i-pod to dance.

"You know Ang. I bet the neighbors hate me," I tell her.

"Rae I seriously doubt that. If they had a problem with your music they would come and say something. Or they would have said something to your landlord who would also say something. What time do you work tomorrow?" She asks.

"Two to seven. Then I'm assuming Chinese and High Octane?" I ask.

"Typical Friday night," Angela says.

"Yep," I confirm.

There is a knock at the door. I turn down the music.

"Who is it?" I ask.

There is another knock. Angela and I look at each other a little worried. There is another knock more impatient this time.

I go over to the door and answer it. Carlie comes into my apartment and grabs my neck smashing her lips to mine.

"What the fuck are you doing here? You said we needed to spend a few days apart," I tell her.

She continues kissing me.

I grab her and stop her.

"Carlie!" I say.

"Me too, Rae," She says.

"You too what?" I ask confused.

"What you said when you left school. Me too," She say kissing me again.

My eyes widen when I realize what she is saying.

"Wait...What?" I ask.

"I love you Rae!" Carlie says.

I just stare at her with my mouth hanging open. I want to tell her that I love her too but I'm too shocked to form words.
