Chapter 10

Matt and I sat on the couch snuggling a bit after the guys went to bed.

"Oli reacted a little weird when we returned." Matt spoke staring at the television.

"I know. We all know he doesn't go to bed early, but oh well." I replied.

"Listen Mel, I want to tell you something." He said.

I turned to him. "What could you possibly have to say Nicholls?" I replied jokingly.

"Well, I, um, I sort of like you." He looked down.

My eyes widened in surprise. "Y-you do?" I stuttered out.

"Yea," he looked at me. "It's okay you don't have to say anything."

"I, um, well honestly I'm kind of surprised." I laughed uncomfortably.

" I could tell by the expression on your face." He laughed.

I smiled at him. "Well I really don't know how I feel about you, Matt. I mean you're a very close friend of mine. I just don't really know if I like you like that." He shook his head as a sign that he understood.

Matt Nicholls just told me he liked me. My best friend. I mean I felt comfortable around him, I did like him, but I'm just not sure if we'd work. That whole best friend romance thing. It doesn't always work out, but with Matt and I maybe we truly would.

It couldn't possibly hurt to give it a chance right?

We finished watching the film and then parted to go to bed.

I woke up at 7 am. It was pretty surprising to me, actually. I made myself a coffee and then headed towards the shower. I decided my outfit for the day would be a pair of black jean shorts and a Drop Dead tank top. I decided on my pair of black converse, slipped my pass on and headed towards my bunk to my bag ready.

I grabbed a black over the shoulder bag and stuffed in everything I'd need for the day.

"Hey, Mel. Where you headed off to this morning?" I heard Nicholls familiar sleepy voice.

"Just to walk around the venue and get a bite to eat at a local restaurant." I replied.

"Oh, can I come with you? It won't take me long." He asked.

"Sure, I still need to put my make up on, anyways." I smiled sitting at the table and performing my daily makeup routine.

I had a few blemishes so I figured that some BB cream would help since it was going to be hot out and I didn't want my makeup to be smearing all over the place.

I waited about 15 minutes after I applied my makeup and then Matt was ready. We headed out the bus door and walked around the venue a little before finding an exit.

We were currently at one of the stops for California so we had some time to explore. We found a nice looking restaurant and decided to get breakfast there. I wasn't really hungry so I just got some eggs and bacon.

After we had finished eating, we decided to walk along the streets for awhile. Our conversations were constantly changing and we were laughing.

"You know, Nicholls. I've noticed something." I said as I turned to him.

"Oh, really? What's that?" He looked at me biting his lip a little.

"Ever since I've met you, you've helped me through a lot. You've always been there for me." I smiled. "And I don't think I've ever thanked you enough."

He smirked. "You actually haven't thanked me as much as you should."

I smacked his arm. "Shut it, Nicholls. I'm trying to be nice."

"I know and it's no problem. I've. always wanted to be there for you and I'm glad I have." He wrapped an arm around me and I walked closer to him as we headed back to the venue.

Since it was about 9 am and Warped didn't start until 11 we decided to head back towards the bus and hang out with the guys a little. I was holding Matt's hand as we walked inside.

"Hey, where were you guys?! We woke up and you were gone?" Lee asked faking worry.

"We headed out for a bite to eat Lee. No worries!" I assured him, giving him a big hug and smiled up at him.

"Well, next time you should let us all know so we're not worried sick about wherever the hell you decided to run off to!" Oli spoke with anger in his voice.

I shifted uncomfortably and replied, "Of course, Oliver. I didn't realize you were my mother."

I felt the guys eyes on both Oliver and I.

"You know what?" I finally spoke up. "I need some air."

Matt just grabbed my hand and followed me out.

I couldn't understand why Oli was being so angry lately. There's been some tension between us and I don't know why. We never fought before I joined them on Warped. We always got along and now this? I don't know if I can survive the rest of the summer.
