Carlos had spent the night alone at the house. It seemed so lonely and empty. Carlos wasn't used to the silence. He got up, slipped on some socks, and walked around the kitchen. It smelt faintly of cookies. Carlos opened up the laptop on the counter that the two shared. He went to Google and typed in "Symptoms of cancer." When the results popped up, Carlos immediately scrolled to the first website he found. Web M.D. That didn't help. He went to the next website, a more trustworthy link that led to a cancer research hospital. The light blue page displayed the logo of the hospital and immediately listed signs of the disease.

Fatigue...Abnormal blood clotting...dizziness or weakness...hallucinations...

Cecil had all of those. Carlos groaned. What of Cecil DID have cancer? What would Carlos do? He ran his hands through his hair and looked back at the screen. Then he realized he was crying. A fat tear rolled down his nose and landed on the "h" key of the keyboard. Carlos wiped it away with the sleeve of his sweater. He needed sleep, but he couldn't. Then he heard a mysterious noise from near his feet. He sneezed. Then Carlos realized that mysterious noise was Khoshekh. He looked down at the dark purple cat, and she looked back up at him. Carlos stepped around the cat and reached into the cabinet to retrieve the grape flavored Claritin. Cecil had tried some once in the spring. He had said it tasted like strawberries. Carlos doubted him immediately. But that was in the spring. When Cecil was better...

"Stop." Carlos said to no one. He didn't want to keep thinking about Cecil in the hospital. But Carlos was stressing out too much.
