Emma's POV
I am running late to my last class of the day, forensics. Some girls were standing in the way of my locker, and now I'm late. I can't be late.Ringggg. That was the bell, and my class is upstairs and down the hall. Fuck.
I'm looking at the floor, hiding my face from prying eyes in the classroom, when I run into someone. So someone else is late too.
I look up and it's Killian...uh... Jones that's it. Captain and quarterback of the football team, the Jolly Rogers. I see him in all of the pep rallies, out on the gym floor with all of the cheerleaders.
I had dropped all of my stuff, so I bent over to pick it up. "Sorry I wasn't watching where I was going." He said, as he grabbed some stray papers.
"Neither was I...thanks." I pushed my hair behind my ear, and picked up the stack of books I had made. Then I grabbed the papers from Killian and put them on top.
"I'm sorry again, but I have to go. I'm late to class." I said, pushing past, and sprinting to my forensics class.
"Obviously." I heard him mock as I sprinted.
I opened the door, and looked at the floor as I sped-walked to my seat.
"Why are you late Miss Swan?" My teacher, Ms.Mills, asked.
"I dropped some stuff in the hallway. I apologize, it won't happen again."
"Since you have never been late or absent before, then I will choose to believe you. But one more slip up and it's to the principal's office." She said, sternly.
"Thank you. You won't regret it." For the rest of the class I was focused, and it seemed Ms.Mills forgot about the incident completely.
There was only 3 minutes left in class, and everyone was antsy to get home. Then Ms.Mills stopped us doing our work to make a quick speech.
"There is a pep rally tomorrow. So all of your classes will be shorter." The class cheered simultaneously. "And there is homework." And with that statement the whole class groaned. Forensics was my favorite class, so I didn't mind as much.
"You will need to read chapter 13 on pages 237-239 in your book, then answer the questions at the end of the chapter." The class started to close their books, and pack up their stuff.
People gathered in small groups around the door, and I could hear them talking about the pep rally.
And there was one group of girls that was giggling, so I listened in, I know, I know, it's not right to eavesdrop, but whatever. They were talking about Killian. I noticed the majority of that group were cheerleaders. Figures.
Ringggg. School was finally over and I could go home. I went to my locker, and luckily got there just before the group of girls, so I quickly threw in my unneeded textbooks, and grabbed my book bag, throwing in the things I would need.
I jumped in my yellow Volkswagen that my foster parents got me, and I drove home. It started to snow, which made sense since it was Maine, and the winter months. As I was driving I saw a dark figure, that was hunched over, and had snow collecting in the back of their jacket.
I slowed down, to see their face, and recognized Killian. I pulled over, leaned over the seat, and opened the door.
"Get in." I said, and he gave me a funny look. "For earlier." I gave him an explanation as for why I stopped.
He looked over and hesitated, but jumped in. I turned the heat up and put it on the face and feet blowers instead of feet and windshield. He shook, and brushed the snow off of his jacket.
"Sorry about the snow in your car." He said, looking at his feet where a bunch of snow had trailed in.
"It's no big deal. Warm up while I take you home. By the way, where do you live?" I asked, keeping my eyes on the road, while occasionally glancing over at him.
"243 Main Street." He stuck his hands in front of a vent near him, and turned them back and forth to warm both sides.
I drove until we got there, then I pulled into his driveway. It was an average sized house.
He got out of the car, but paused, and leaned back down though the door. "Thanks again."
"It's no problem, but if you need a ride just ask." I said, giving a small smile, which he returned.
"Alright, see you later."
"Probably not." I muttered under my breath. We came from opposite sides of the social food chain. The chances of us really talking again, were slim. And I was okay with that.
I finally got home, and my parents were sitting on the couch next to each other. They were my adoptive parents, Mary-Margaret and David, but they were the only people to actually take me in, and not give me back. I loved them like they were my birth parents.
"Hey sweetie. You're home later than normal." My mom said.
"Yeah, a kid from my school was walking home, and it started snowing, so I pulled over and drove him home." I explained, throwing my keys in the key bowl by the door.
"Him?" My dad could be overprotective sometimes.
"Yes, dad. It's not that big of a deal. The only way you will be able to stop me from being around guys is if you sent me to an all girl school." I said, jokingly.
"Maybe we'll just have to do that then." He was half joking, but I think part of him actually wanted it to happen.
"We're not going to send you to an all girl school." Mom elbowed Dad in the stomach lightly, and I giggled at his surprised reaction.
"Alright, I have homework. Call me down for dinner...or if you need something."
I finished the day by doing my homework, eating dinner, getting a shower, then going to bed. Normally I would text my best friend Ruby, but I was super tired tonight.
