Kyra just sat there, her mind suddenly stopped. She had alot of questions but before she could ask the first one, the rude lady spoke.

"I need more proof." She narrowed her eyes a sly smile on her face. "Who am I, twinkletoes ?"

"Stop calling me that Toph!" Amari snapped in a voice not quite her own. A strange look came over her face. Surprise, Toph rekoned.

"I have all the proof I need." She said leaning back into the chair, smiling.

"I new it." Kyra breathed. "So it's for real?" She asked.

"What's an avatar?" Amari asked. Apparently it was an important person, but no one was even listening to her.

"Yes it's for real. Your little sister is the Avatar." Tarrlok answered Kyra.

" I can't believe we found her..."

"After all this time..."

"I think she can..."

Everyone was talking at once and no one herd Amari ask three more times what an avatar was. Finally frustrated, Amari yelled over everyone,  "Would someone please stop ignoring me, and tell me what the heck an avatar is?"

"Well that makes things more complicated." Toph exclaimed. "She doesn't even know what an Avatar is."

"Mabey we should introduce ourselves first." A voice called  out. A young man, standing in the doorway wearing a red scarf introduced himself. "I'm Mako. I'm 15 and I'm glad we found you, Avatar Korra."
"Uhhhhh... hi?" Was all she said.

"I'm Councilman Tarrlok. I too am pleased we have found you." Tarrlok said.

"I'm General Toph Beifong of the Freedom Fighters. Pleased to meet you twinkletoes." Toph said grinning. Amari groaned.

"My name is Iroh. But you can call me Uncle Iroh." The grandpa guy said.

"My name is Firelord Zuko."
Amari gasped, finally recognizing the man with the scar across his left eye and face.

"We are the leading chiefs of the governmental group called the White Lotus. You my dear, are the Avatar." Tarrlok said nodding at Amari.

"Wait, you mean as in Avatar Aang?" Amari asked eyes wide.

Tarrlok nodded again. "You are the next avatar Korra."

"I knew it." Kyra breathed.

"When would you like to leave?" Iroh asked.

"Wait, hold on. I  not leaving." Amari said as horrified look on her face.

"We need to get you to a place where we can protect you. Out here you are extremely vulnerable to an attack from any bad group of people who hate you." Toph objected. Amari rolled her eyes.

"Well that's reassuring." She said sarcastically.

"Korra, she is serious. There are really bad people out there who could hurt you if given the chance." Zuko said.

"Can Kyra come too?" Amari asked grabbing her sister's hand.

"No, I'm afraid not. Only the avatar and the avatar alone can come with us." Tarrlok answered.

"Then it's  settled. I'm not going." Amari said crossing her arms over her chest, a defiant look on her face.

"Don't be silly! You go Ama- Korra. I'll stay here." Kyra said sounding sad but trying to hide it.

Amari looked at her funny. "You've got to be joking. I'm not leaving you to manage the house, bills, thugs, and who-knows-what else. "

"I can manage. Now go pack your things. I'll be along in a minuet to help you."
Her older sister  said shooing her out of the room.

"You know I hate road trips." Amari grumbled walking out of the room.

"She's got quite a spirit in her." Mako said watching her go.

Kyra nodded. "I'm glad too. I lost mine when Ma and Pa were killed." She took a deep breath. "I hope you realize what you are making her give up. She's leaving everything she's ever known."

"Your parents were..." Mako didn't finish the sentence.

Kyra nodded again and they all saw the tears glistening in her eyes(except for Toph, who is blind). "Murdered. Cut down right in front of us. I tried to fight back. Am-Korra was little. Five years old. It was what inspired her to fight so well and train so hard. She said she would protect me until she died and she has, on several occasions, driven away gangs of thieves and robbers while I slept. I wouldn't even know it happened had she not washed the mud and dried blood off herself."
Kyra couldn't stand it. She  broke down and sobbed, crying right in front of all of them. Mako got up and gently took her by the elbow and led her over to a chair.

After a moment, Kyra continued.

"Before then, Korra had never cried once. Even when she had seriously hurt herself fighting against a band of thugs. She never cried once. Never complained if something was hard or if it hurt her." She was visibly trembling and her voice was shaky now. "But after they were killed," Kyra's voice was barely a whisper. "she cried herself to bed every night. At first it was for 'Mummy' and 'Daddy'. Then it was at the firenation soldiers for killing them.  Then it was because she was in so much pain from fighting and she was so torn up inside and out. I can still hear her crying sometimes...just because."
She took a breath. "I couldn't stand it. It's still hard to hear her sobbing. Those old wounds still ache. Now she's the strong one. Telling me how it's gonna be alright even when we both know that it won't be. Please, just take care of her. "Kyra started sobbing into Mako's shoulder as he comforted her.

"My parents were killed too. I was eight. My little brother was four. They were killed by a group that called themselves the Triple Threats. They killed alot of people that night." He pushed her off his shoulder. "You see this?" He asked her holding out his red scarf for her to see. "This scarf was the last thing my parents ever gave me. I have not gone a day without wearing it. I know what it feels like to feel so helpless and alone. That is why I became a police officer. To keep me busy. If I'm busy, I forget about everything else. Stay busy. I'm sorry about your parents. No one should have to go through that." He said softly.

Kyra gently touched the red cloth. "I sorry about yours too." She managed before she burst into tears, sobbing into Mako's shoulder again.
When she had cried all she could, Kyra stood up and said, "Excuse me, I should go help Korra with her things. " And with that she ducked out of the room.

"A sad story." Iroh said shaking his head.

"We need to be gentle with Korra. Toph, I'm talking to you." Zuko said giving the lady a pointed look.

"I never knew that was why you joined the police force Mako." Toph said ignoring Zuko for the moment.

"You never asked."

"We still need to hurry. I have a feeling,  Amon knows exactly where we are."
Tarrlok said, a grim look on his face. He looked out the window searching for the evil he knew was coming.
