Tarrlok and General Toph Beifong Fong walked through the metal lined halls of the Justice, a Future Industries airship. They walked in silence, their fear of what they might find- specificly how Korra would react to being on an airship, evident in their minds and on their faces. She probably had never seen one before, let alone been on one.
Korra had lived in the Lower Ring of Ba Sing Sae all her life. There were three different divisions of Ba Sing Sae which were called rings. The Upper Ring was were all the extremely rich people ( 'snobs' as far as most people were concerned), along with the Earth Queen, lived. The Middle Ring was were all of the normal people. The Lower Ring is were all the poor people lived-that was were Korra came from.
The Lower Ring was chaos (from Toph's view anyway). There was garbage, hobos, and stray cats and dogs littering the street. The houses were falling apart because no one could afford to fix them.
Tarrlok pushed those thoughts as the councilman and chief heard shouting and doors slam ahead of them. The duo started running down yet another long corridor. They rounded a corner and saw metal soldiers lying on the ground, unconscious and most with burns on their hands and faces.
Mako stood before a closed door holding the bridge of his nose and shaking his head. Zuko stood beside him, trying not to look impressed or amused, Tarrlok could not tell.
He sighed. "What did Korra do now?" He asked tiered. He had had enough shenanigans for one day, and he could tell Toph had too.
"Oh, nothing." Mako answered sarcastically. "Other than blast all of the men on duty in the face with fire the minute she woke up, scorch the walls, and burn my hair. I barely made it out of the room alive." He added pointing at his singed hair.
Zuko snorted but because of Mako's heated glare, he quickly turned it into a cough. "Smoke got up my nose."He said trying (unsuccessfully) to hide his smirk.
"I am not exaggerating." Mako snapped at him. "That girl went into the Avatar State without even trying. She is deadly when angry, and right now she is furious."
"Uhhh, Mako?" Tarrlok asked uneasily, eyeing the door behind him. "Why is the door glowing?"
And indeed the door was glowing bright red. Smoke trailed from its searing surface, the air in front of it wavered from the extreme heat.
Mako sighed. "Because," he explained. "after Korra figured out I locked her in that room, she has been and still is trying to melt the metal parts of the door and walls." He said it pointing at the broiling door.
Toph rolled her eyes along with Tarrlok, but Zuko still wore that strange almost-impressed-almost-amused look. Toph got into a metal bending stance so did the others.
"She can't possibly get past all of us." Toph said. "I'll just metal bend her to a chair or something." Zuko and Mako weren't so sure, but they weren't going to tell her that.
Toph bent the broiling door in and was met head on with a huge fire blast. Toph flew backward and knocked into Tarrlok and both were on the floor before they new what hit them. Zuko and Mako shot a stream of flame into the opening but Korra was far away and easily slid under the flames.
Korra flamed at the ground and propelled herself into the air and shot more flame as she flew. Korra hit the metal ground with a thunk. She was off and running, jumping over unconscious men and the struggling councilman and general.
Toph shot up "Oh no you don't!" She yelled feeling with her feet, Toph found Korra's running form moving quickly. With her mind's eye, Toph shot a cabled down the hallway where it wrapped around Korra's waist.
The feisty little girl turned around and gave each man and woman a nasty look. If looks could kill, Republic City would be looking for some new leaders. Korra grabbed the cable with both hands and took a deep breath. Finally, she gave the general one last nasty look, and channeled lightning down the cable.
