Changes in CHAPTERS 39-44

CHAPTER THIRTY-NINE; TRIS

In the original chapter 39 I would  just add that after the meeting Matthew briefly mentions that he was unable to find genetic data of Tris and Four – that his file with the documents disappeared.

In the same chapter I would also add that Caleb and Cara found out that there is something strange with GP/GD test: it is based on a deficient and imperfectly selected gene sequences. It is almost like the sequences were selected to fit to somebody. And besides Matthew confirms that Tris's and Four's data disappeared from his computer.

Then I keep with original text till CHAPTER 42, where I added some sentences: Matthew informs the others that he will inoculate also some other friends, scientists and doctors against memory serum - as many good people as possible. They will need them and their knowledge. The others agree.

The next changes I added a chapter at the end of the  original chapter FOURTY-TWO: 

CHAPTER 42b; TOBIAS

I walk down the hallway and suddenly I hear steps behind me. Matthew is trying to catch me. "Four, can I talk to you?"

"Sure!" I say and he beckons to me to follow him to his office.

"So," he begins. "I asked my supervisor about our security system. I pretended that I am worried because of the last incident and that I would like to know if there is any possibility that somebody would steal our data. He didn't give me any answer but his warning glance told me that it is better not to mention this topic again. Ever. Of course this further stimulated me. I found that there are periods in which all data are missing. I miss many results of genetic tests and several footages from the city. A lot of missing data are related to you, to Tris and to her mother. And I am quite sure that I had tests of almost all leaders of the Bureau, but now there are just three of them. Now we have many other things to do but in the next days I will need your help. You have a lot of experience and knowledge from the control room..."

I feel that anger is rising in me, anger because David lied to us about so many things. I check my watch and I immediately decide. "We have at least an hour before Tris comes from the meeting. Dou you think I could have a look now? It could be very useful to know a bit more about this."

"Sure," he replies and he shows me the files on his computer. Then he turns toward the door and says, "in meantime I will inoculate some more friends against memory serum."

"Good!" I reply. "I think we will need as many reliable experts as possible."

"If my supervisor appears just tell him that I asked you to check some documents from Chicago, OK!" he adds and he leaves me alone.

It takes me some time to find out what happened to the missing documents and how many of them are actually missing. After about an hour, when I am almost done, Matthew appears on the door. His eyes are full of questions.

I just nod.

"What?" he asks in anticipation.

"Copied to another computer or server," I reply. "And encrypted. I cannot break in. But it is already clear that there is a huge amount of data."

I show him a list of maps that should have been secretly transferred to the computer. The list itself is already extensive. Names indicate numerous genetic tests, data on divergents, GD/GP research results, documents related to the search for genetically pure individuals , data on the development of serums ... Then Matthew calls my attention to some documents at the bottom. I observe names Natalie, Beatrice, Tobias and Uriah.

We exchange questioning glances.

"I think we should go now, we are already late!" I say.

He nods. I quickly conceal traces of my queries on the secret computer. Then we leave the room, with questions buzzing in our brains.

Before we separate he just says, "Now we have to focus on our plan. These findings can wait till tomorrow."

I nod and then I leave toward the dormitory.

Then continue with original chapter 43 and 44. In chapter 43 I would only like to add a sentence in which Four briefly mentions hidden documents to Tris, when they are talking on the atrium.
