"Ooh! Diana! this is going to be so much fun! We are going to a real freakshow!" My best friend, Lucinda giggled, sitting in at her vanity removing the rollers from her hair, one by one.

I nodded once and then looked back down at the magazine that I was tightly gripping in my hands. It's not going to be fun. I know it, everybody will notice my... deformity and then I'll be whisked away to join the circus too.

I was already dressed in a lavender coloured, knee length flock with my hair tied tight into a pony tail — I have been ready to leave the house for hours now; I just want today to be done and over with....

"DIANA! EARTH TO DIANA!!" Lucinda laughed, snapping her manicured nails in front of my face. "Im ready to go! Come on!"
With that, I was hustled out of the room, down the stairs, out of the house and into Lucinda's mothers car.
–             –
I walked through the sea of tents, placed randomly around the grassy field. I rubbed my arm trying to give myself comfort as I was led towards the ticket office. A woman with a beard sat behind the glass.

"Hey there!" She smiled at us and my heart began to race. theyaregoingtonotice.
"Hi, two tickets for your show at 6?"
theyaregoingtonotice. theyaregoingtonotice.
"Sure.... there you go!" The bearded lady slid us two pieces of card, each boldly said:
FREAK SHOW — ADMITS ONE — 6PM
my hand began to shake and my palm was sweating. theyaregoingtonotice, theyaregoingtonotice, theyaregoingtonotice.

Inside the main tent the air was cooler, hardly any of the seats were filled – I steered Lucinda away from a charming man in a white and red suit to sit in the far corner where it was darker and where nobody was sat. I couldn't take any risks. No body can know; all these years I've done so well at hiding it... By wearing gloves every second of every day... I'd loose everything if they found out.

I settled into one of the hard wooden chairs, sitting up as straight as I possibly could. Then the lights dimmed and the same bearded lady from the ticket office stepped out onto the stage.

"MY NAME IS ETHEL!" She cried out to the audience. "AND WELCOME TO ELSA MARS' FREAKSHOW!" The audience broke out into an applause, but my hands where glued to my lap. Suddenly — freaks. They were all being introduced one by one and my stomach did a backflip. I was going to be sick. I had to get out of here, my vision blurred as I quickly stood up from my seat and once I'd collected myself together: I ran.
