"Hello?" Emma panted, opening the door as she stepped inside. "Uncle Brian?" she called, leaning against the door after she shut it. Her uncle appeared in front of her, his eyes wide as he winced.
"Oh my god, I totally forgot to pick you up" he breathed, wincing as he offered a sheepish smile. Emma rolled her eyes, sending him a tired glare.
"Yeah" Emma grumbled, tucking her windblown hair behind her ears. She hadn't known it was going to be windy, or a long walk home. "I walked, so you're welcome" she breathed, crossing her arms over her chest.
"I'm so sorry sweetheart. I wouldn't have forgotten but I found two people to lease out that extra room! You know, sense we live in a huge house and we're only two people" he explained, Emma nodding slowly.
"Great. Where'd you find them? Craigslist?" she teased, her uncle rolling his eyes as he pushed her lightly, Emma elbowing him back.
"No, they found our ad. They're agents actually, working on some old cases in Beacon Hills. They need a place to stay for some time and well, they check out. It's a done deal" her uncle explained, Emma nodding in response, unsure of how she would like two strangers living in her house. "C'mon, you should meet them" he placed his hand on Emma's back, guiding her into the dining room.
Two men stood up, smiling at her. "Hi Emma" the shorter one greeted, the taller one offering a wave. Their smiles were bright, their eyes brimming with joy. Emma's head tilted in confusion, unsure of why they were so happy to see her. "Oh, forgive me, I'm Dean" his smile faltered, but only slightly, Emma nodding as she looked into his green eyes.
"And I'm Sam" the taller one greeted, Emma offering a small smile. "Uh happy birthday" he offered, Emma recoiling in confusion. "We saw the poster in the kitchen" he quickly added, trying not seem too creepy.
"Well, what do you think?" her uncle asked, placing a hand on her shoulder. He tried to prompt conversation, knowing how shy his niece was. She couldn't help it; it came from being abandoned. Emma pursed her lips, staring at the two men who gazed back at her, as if waiting for a certain response.
"Have I seen you two somewhere?" she asked, her head tilting to the side as her eyes ran over their vaguely familiar features. Their eyes went wide as they turned to look at each other, before turning back to her.
"You-you recognize us?" Dean asked, placing his hand over his heart. It looked as if he was on the verge of tears, Emma's eyebrows coming together in confusion.
"A little. I've probably seen you around town or something" she muttered, blushing under their stares. "Why, is something wrong?" she asked, unable to identify why they were so focused on her.
"No, no problem. We're just a little tired from our trip is all" Sam spoke, patting his brother on the back. "If you don't mind, we're going to go settle in upstairs. Thanks again for everything" Sam smiled, grabbing Dean's arm as he tugged him away.
"That was odd" Emma muttered once they were out of earshot, sighing as she ran her hand over her face. Her uncle nodded, chuckling softly.
"Yeah, but they're nice guys." he nodded, looking up the stairs. "Anyways, how was it today? Make any friends?" he asked, batting his eyelashes at her. Emma sighed, biting her lip as she knew exactly what reaction this was going to earn.
"Yeah. A few actually" Emma admitted softly, a large smile climbing its way across his face.
"I told you!" he exclaimed, Emma nodding with an amused grin as she had, in fact, called it. "Oh man! Tell me about them" he spoke excitedly, moving into the kitchen where he sat at the island, Emma placing herself next to him.
