cambria
the party we were at, i didn't know anyone except for the couple i came here with. "come here, i want to introduce you to someone."
justin was talking to karmen, as i stood in the middle of everyone mingling, just drinking champagne. "a lovely lady like you shouldn't be standing alone."
when i turned around, a white man with hella good hair was standing there with his hand in his pocket and a glass of wine in the other. "a handsome man like you shouldn't be single."
he just smirks, while grabbing my hand and kissing it. "may i show you something?"
a man with elegance and manners, i nod, then followed him. i see karmen from afar, winking at me. smirking, i turn around to see someone i was hoping not to.
"cambria, i was hoping to see you here."
my ex boss, david, gripped my arm and pulled me away from the man i was hoping to actually have a civilized conversation with. "look, sir, can we no-"
"don't speak."
"excuse me." the man speaks, walking up to us. "is she with you?"
"as a matter a fact, yes."
in the blink of an eye, david was knocked out. my eyes widen as justin stood next to me, the man next to me shrugging, "i could've done that."
i just laugh, but justin wasn't amused. "i asked you to watch over me not knock him out."
"slick back over here surely wasn't doing anything." justin rolls his eyes, then starts to straighten out his tux. "pretty sure im going to be escorted out so i'll see you."
as justin walked away, i saw karmen yelling at him. i couldn't have him taking heat from her like that and have him accidentally admit the affair or sown thing stupid.
"my name's cambria. call me in two days." i grab a pen from my bag and hurriedly wrote my name and number on a napkin. after slipping it into the man's pocket, i run as fast as i could to meet up with them. by the time i had gotten out there, he had pulled off so i flagged down a taxi.
justin
"you can't tell me nothing's going on." karmen exclaimed. "you hired cambria, she's your assistant, and not to mention you just punched some random guy then insulted the guy she was about to sneak off with."
"are you accusing me o-"
"justin, stop." i had heard the soft voice. "you can tell her."
we turn around to see cam walking into the front door. "but i thought you were embarrassed to admit it."
"i am, but she's your wife and she thinks something is going on. i don't want to be the one to ruin your marriage, so just tell her what's going on."
the way she spoke made me wonder if she was talking about us having sex or this argument. sighing, i watch as cam walks away and i start to explain the story to karmen. she was completely shocked but her after reaction was not what i was expecting.
"you hired a whore to work as your assistant? that doesn't bother you at all?" she whispers, me completely and utterly shocked that those words even came from karmen's mouth.
"what the fuck is wrong with you?" i exclaim. "first you insult her race then you- you know what..."
i laugh bitterly as i grab my blazer, phone, and walked out of the bedroom. karmen was calling my name as i got outside. cambria was standing out there practically shivering so i gave her my blazer, and told her im staying at the loft with her.
