Standing up, I earned a very approving smile form Mrs. O. I hesitantly made my way over to the mysterious guy, who had not only an intimidating appearance, but also looks. No one ever dared to talk to him or about him, just like the brown haired guy and a few others from the same social school group. They never spoke unless spoken to and even when they were spoken to they kept their answers as short as possible, sometimes just giving a careless shrug.
Although they never spoke, nor participated when it came to school, everyone knew all of them to be very smart.
"Hello." I spoke softly, he looked up to me and bobbed his head once, as hello back.
"Excellent, we have all the pairs now, I highly recommend to take this seriously, every of you should. It will make 40 % of your final mark." Our teacher basically yelled, since the class was chattering.
I sat down beside him, quietly, placing the laptop in front of me, starting it.
I sighed when I sat back, waiting for the computer to start as I looked at his drawing he was drawing right now. It was something I could not read in a different language, probably Arabic with a lot of signs around it. Suddenly, his deep voice startled me as he spoke, not even looking at me.
" I don't like being watched, stop that."
Very weird accent. Very weird guy
I didn't know why, but somehow, through all the time I was in class with him, I thought he wouldn't talk because he was somewhat shy, which was why he dressed like he wasn't so people wouldn't suspect a thing, but I guess I was wrong with those conclusions.
Completely wrong.
"You must be my partner, aren't you?" he spoke with a rather Nordic accent.
"Yeah, I'm Leah." I said and smiled weakly.
"I know."
"Oh... Okay."
I sighed at my lack of conversational properties as I logged myself into the school system, waiting again.
"What's your name?" I asked blushing, hoping that he did not know I knew it.
"Zahir." He replied, not giving me a glance as he blatantly checked Cassie out who was sat in front of us with her partner as she applied some more of the red lipstick she used to wear all the time.
Guys.
I rolled my eyes as I ruffled with my hand through my very wavy brown hair.
"Do you have any ideas for the project?" I said, trying to catch his attention again, it was really annoying me that he did almost undress her with his eyes, when we had work to do.
"Huh?"
huh?!
"Do you have any ideas? You know, for the project that we're supposed to do?" I asked, lifting an eyebrow, ever so slightly.
"Oh, uh," he said giving her one last glance until he replied: "No."
"Great." I mumbled as I opened Google, looking for 'geography projects.
One thing that really seemed to be interesting popped up.
"How long is this gonna take?" Zahir asked me, as I read through the idea.
"We surely need to be working on it a couple of afternoons." I shrugged, my gaze on the text I found.
"Just do it on your own, I have better things to do." He muttered, taking his phone out of his jeans as he scrolled through his messages, leaving me speechless.
"You've got to be kidding me." I groaned in disbelieve as soon as I found my voice again.
"I don't like telling jokes." He smirked amusedly rising one of his eyebrows.
"Okay, dude, listen, I am not going to work on this alone. I'm not one of those nerds who enjoy spending their free time on working for their beloved school. So fucking drop that attitude ad help me, unlike you, I don't need to pass here." I bitched., but it was worth it.
"Jeez, no need to get all snappy." He said, putting his hands up in surrender.
I rolled my eyes, and continued examining the very interesting project that someone in Michigan apparently had done before.
"How about this; we give reasons for the plate tectonics and build a reconstruction of the earth with all the plates and label them, explaining what each bigger one can do." I said as I looked up to him to meet his dull gaze.
"Sounds like a lot of work."
"Well," I paused as I licked my bottom lip in frustration," that's what you need, in order to pass this year."
"You need it too-" he started, but the bell rang, so he gladly took his stuff and left me behind to shut the computer down.
"Zahir!" I called as he turned around, nodding.
"Thursday after school, parking lot." He yelled, making other students turn around.
Wow, that just made me look like a complete slut.
Hayden's Point of View
I made my way into the canteen, exhausted already, the morning was quite stressful. The smell of foul food filled my nostrils as I walked past the kitchen and sat down, waiting for Lionel to bring me my food. It had its perks to be one of the highest members of The Union, I had to admit that.
As I looked around I spotted her, sitting with a girl called Juliet and a guy, who was around her an awful lot of time; Andrew.
Seemingly, they were her group of friends and the only friends she had ever since she changed the grade leaving the cheerleaders behind.
My unnoticeable smile instantly dropped when Lionel shielded her as he walked towards me with a plastic bag on his right arm. As he sat down he pushed the bag into my direction not saying as much as word as he gave Zahir a nod.
Expectantly he watched me as I opened the plastic bag; McDonald's
I gave him an approving nod.
