Leah's Point Of View
"What about you, love?" Zahir asked as He looked down to her.
"Steve killed my- my mum, I don't know whe- where to go." She sniffled as she buried her face into his white shirt.
I watched him as he looked down to her in pity, as he rubbed her back.
He looked over to Hayden, who protectively held me in his arms and raised an eyebrow.
"Zahir, I don't know if-" Hayden started, but Zahir cut him off already, not wanting to hear it.
"Listen fucker, I just fucking helped you out, so fucking return something." He snapped, making Emily squeeze her brown eyes shut, but a tear ran anyway down her cheek. I felt so bad for her,
"You're the fucker who caused it!" Hayden growled, holding me tighter as I took hold of his face, because I didn't want him to get angry, not after everything, that had just happened.
He looked at me sternly, until his features softened as I rubbed his cheek and shook my head. He gave me a kiss onto my rather full lips. He pecked my lips a few times as he hummed, his hands not leaving my waist. As I pulled away I smiled at him and then said something I knew he wouldn't like to hear.
"She can stay at mine." I said, taking the decision. I wouldn't let her alone in this world or let Zahir take her to the cave.
He gave me a doubtful glance, frowning as he watched Zahir soothe the little girl as his glance travelled back to me.
"Leah, I don't know if-" he started again, but I cut him off by a kiss and let his face go, in attempt to walk over to them, but he held his hands in place, making it hard for me to even move.
"I don't like to be interrupted." He whispered into my ear as I shivered. He kissed my earlobe making me shudder all over again.
"Hayden, I know what I'm doing." I whimpered, trying hard to keep my voice steady.
"This has been too much for you. You got kidnapped, locked in for days and now you want to take the decision of educating a child? How will you pay for her? You're not even 18, you're not even legally allowed to adopt a kid yet. All I think, is that you need to rest and think all of this through." He said as he squeezed my waist soothingly.
"She's gonna live on the street Hayden. Do you really want to do that to her, after all she's been through?" I said as I gazed up into his eyes.
He sighed and looked over to Zahir who had picked the girl up meanwhile, as she dozed off peacefully in his arms.
I pouted as I kisses his damn perfect lips again.
"She'll stay one week. Then we talk again." He sighed.
I nodded happily as I pecked his lips once again and walked over to them, telling Zahir what he just had said to me as Hayden watched us.
"I can adopt her." Zahir protested as I nodded, but I was disagreeing.
"They want to see the environment into which you put her, what life you give her and I don't think they'd be okay with the cave."
He nodded as he sighed as he walked with Emily beside me, reaching Hayden who's arm immediately found my waist.
We walked towards the car, having a quiet ride as Hayden's hand never left my bare tight. Looking at his hand my gaze travelled up to my shorts, reminding me that I had not taken a shower in days, nor changed my clothes.
I felt so dirty.
How could Hayden even touch me like that. I was dirty, I had ripped clothes and I smelled like sweating poop.
Hayden shut the engine off as he walked out of the car and over to me. I pushed myself out of the car as I opened the door for Zahir so that he could climb out with Emily on his arm. He pushed past me, walking into my house, past my mum, which obviously had been scared at the sight of a guy standing in her living room with a dirty looking girl.
I quickly followed him, Hayden's hand not leaving my frame, as if he let go I'd disappear.
"Where can I put her?" Zahir asked nodding to Emily as if it wasn't already obvious that he meant her."Follow me." I said as I ignored my mum since she told me I was a disgrace to her.
We walked upstairs towards my room as he lay her down on my bed, pulling the covers over her.
I smiled at how lovely he treated her. He'd be a great father someday, I could tell.
Maybe one day he could adopt her for good.
"can you leave us alone for a second." I heard Zahir say to Hayden as Hayden held tighter on my waist, not moving.
Not even attempting to move.
"S'okay." I whispered as he nodded, glaring at Zahir the whole way towards the door.
"I'll wait downstairs, yeah?"
He closed the door as Zahir watched me.
"I'm sorry for everything you had to go through." He said looking me into my eyes, referring to something I knew.
"Zahir there's nothing which can ever make up for the shit you put us through." I argued crossing my arms over my chest.
'You're being a bitch' the voice in my head said.
'Shut up'
'See, bitch' the voice said.
Damn I hated it when it was right.
"I know and I'm sorry! Look what I did today! I killed him, for your damn sake!" Zahir argued as I continued being a bitch by countering.
"Zahir I got kidnapped, locked in, raped, his point was to get me too worn out, by not feeding me, he locked my boyfriend in with me, so I could suffer from seeing him suffer! Don't you think that forgiving you is a bit too much for this week?!"
"I'm not asking you to forgive me! All I'm asking for is a damn chance, because I'm trying to fucking change here."
"That decision comes a little late."
He sighed loudly and ran his fingers through his dark hair.
"Listen, I'm not asking you to forgive, but I want to change."
"And why? All of sudden."
"Because of everything that happened, I can't go on with my life like this!"
"Well, you've been pretty fine with bringing me to that damn cave."
"It's not about you! It's about her, I want to change because of her." He pointed at the girl who was sleeping on my bed.
I frowned as I looked him into the eyes, waiting for a damn well deserved explanation. I wasn't sure if he fell for her or not. That'd be awkward... I mean after all she was 14.
"I want to become her legal guardian, one day. But before this happens I will have to change."
"oh." Was all I said as a silence broke out.
He nodded as he admired her for more time, but then some when turned around as he opened the door.
We walked downstairs to hear Hayden on the phone talking to someone as he said:" I don't care what everyone's doing. Drop it and get into the meeting hall. I'll see you in 30."
God damn hate what his job is.
Zahir walked through the front door as Hayden hung up, seeing my worried expression.
"Listen, love, I got things to handle back in the cave. I'll see you as soon as possible, okay? Make sure your door is locked and don't leave the house anymore tonight, okay?" He asked as I frowned.
"I thought that you'd stay with me."
"Listen, babe, I got a few things to handle back in the cave. Just text me if there's anything." He said and handed me my phone back that he had found god only knows where.
"Okay." I said as I looked to the ground, a little bit upset.
He slung his arms around me as e hugged me tightly.
"Don't be upset baby, I'll see you soon. You need to rest anyway." He whispered and leaned in for a kiss which unfortunately didn't last long.
"I love you." I whispered.
"I love you too." He said as he trailed with his hand over my cheek, giving me once more a kiss before letting me go.
The truth was that, the moment he left me, I was terrified, I was scared.
"Lock your door, baby girl." He said as I nodded.
I walked upstairs again, passing my mum which had passed out on the couch with a few beer bottles by this time and checked onto Emily before getting some clothes, so I could take a shower.
I never knew a shower could do such wonders.
Stepping out, I put my pyjama on and walked back into my room, seeing Emily stirring a bit. I opened our attic and sought for the box with my clothes back when I was 12-15, finding it, I walked satisfied down again placing the box on the floor as I walked back into the bathroom, getting my toothbrush for her.
"Emily." I whispered. She stirred a little and suddenly her eyes shot open.
"Wh- Where am I?" She stuttered as she fisted the bed sheets.
"Calm down honey, you're save, I've prepared some clothes for you and also a toothbrush, in case you might want and go clean yourself." I said.
She nodded as she slowly got up from bed, wincing a little, reminding me, that she was perhaps a little sore.
She shut the door and I lied down on my bed sighing.
It was finally over.
...
Yeah that was what I thought...
