Mrs. Malfoy looked down at the beautiful female child before her. She could not be happier about her daughter's birth. The girl's longing silver orbs caught her mother's gaze for the thousandth time that night and Mrs. Malfoy's heart melted. Her child was perfect. Their child was perfect.
She turned her eyes from her child and glanced at her husband, who was sitting on the other side of the room. Draco's eyes were wandering about the room, as his thoughts overwhelmed him.
Draco Malfoy, a father? He could hardly believe it. But he was happy. Honestly, he had been happy every waking moment since the day he married Ginevra Molly Weasley. He smiled slightly at the thought of the hate he had once harbored for her and her family. Now she was everything to him.
Ginny held her baby in the air and said, "Draco, I think she looks like you."
Draco was taken from his thoughts and he replied, "Gin, I'm positive she looks like you."
Ginny bit her bottom lip, questioning something.
"What's on your mind, Gin?" Draco asked.
"I'm wondering. It's just...when she goes to school, eleven years from now...will she be like me or you?"
"Both of us, of course. She is ours."
"But will she be a Slytherin or a Gryffindor?" It was obvious that she had been pondering this for a while based on the look on her face.
Draco had no answer to the question. He hadn't thought about it. Contrary to how he would have felt years before, he wouldn't mind a daughter in Gryffindor house. He would love her and take pride in her no matter what. He wanted to give her the support his parents never had. She deserved to follow her own path.
"I think that whatever house gains a Malfoy will be a special house for sure."
Ginny smiled and looked down again at her baby. The child's lips tugged up in a smile, which was a relief after hours of the baby's wails. Was her daughter showing her pride at the mention of the name of Malfoy? If she was she had plenty reason for it.
Draco continued, "Anyways, Ginny, her time at Hogwarts is still 11 years away. We'll discover this little ginger's personality long before she's off to school."
"Oh Draco!" Ginny cried. "Can we name her that?"
Draco grinned and nodded his head. "Ginger Malfoy. How very Weasley-sounding."
Ginny raised an eyebrow and replied, "I hope you like Weasleys, because you have a lot of them in your family these days."
Draco laughed and nodded. He and Ginny's family had made up a long time ago and he had grown fond of the idea of Ron as a brother-in-law.
Ginny sighed and closed her eyes tightly. "I love you so much, Draco. And you too, Ginger," she said, holding her child close. Her life was perfect.
