Lobelia followed Ginger back to the Slytherin common room. Ginger filled Lobelia in on the details of the party. When they had gotten to the girls' dorms, Ginger went into her room and dug in her trunk for the thing she was looking for.
About five minutes later, she had pulled a out a Slytherin-green dress. The dress was nothing fancy, it was a cotton, strapless, very casual looking piece of fabric, but she loved it anyways. Lobelia put on some skinny jeans and a green tunic-looking top. The two looked the part of Slytherins. Ginger looked at her white watch (a very interesting Muggle one that her Grandpa Arthur had brought her) and saw that the girls actually had plenty of time.
She and Lobelia worked on homework and did their finishing touches on hair and makeup until the sun went down and they sneaked up to the seventh floor.
They didn't have to sneak past the other girls in their room because they were all going to the party. They followed each other into the crowded hallway, trying to be as quiet as possible. They made it up to the seventh floor and they all concentrated, "I need a place to have a party, a place to have a party."
A door appeared and they all walked in. The party was in full swing. All the girls split up to see everything. On the left there was a bar, where a seventh-year was passing out bubbling purple drinks. Ginger eyed the drinks suspiciously and decided she'd like to try one. She went up in the line to grab one with the other Slytherins and the occasional Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff, but when she got to the front, she was handed a Butterbeer instead.
"No," the seventh-year said. "I'm not gonna be responsible for getting Draco Malfoy's daughter drunk. I'd like to survive my last year at Hogwarts."
Ginger rolled her eyes and sipped her Butterbeer. It was actually pretty good, and it warmed her up from head to toe. She decided to forget about the purple alcohol and to enjoy the party instead. She found Alex in the crowd, who was talking to a fifth-year. She walked up to him and said hello.
"Flint, this is Ginger Malfoy. Malfoy, this is Xavier Flint." Alex introduced them.
Ginger eyed Flint. He had dark hair and thick eyebrows. His teeth were a bit crooked, but it was hardly noticeable. His ears stuck out a bit to the sides. He had pale skin, not as pale as a Malfoy, but much lighter than Alex Nott. He was smiling and he seemed nice enough. "Hello, Xavier. Pleased to meet you," Ginger beamed.
"Same to you, Malfoy. Are you gonna try out for Quidditch this season?"
"Erm, I was planning on it, I mean, I'm only a first year, I probably won't make it. Why?"
"I'm Quidditch captain of Slytherin house, and any kid of Draco Malfoy better try out for my team."
"Well," Ginger thought. "I've always wanted to be a Chaser like my mum."
Xavier's face twisted. "Your mum was on the House team? She must not have been a Slytherin then."
Alex joined in, "Yeah, Ginger's mum was a Gryffindor. Ginny Weasley."
Xavier raised an eyebrow. "A Malfoy married a Weasley?"
Ginger nodded furiously. "My mum was excellent at Quidditch. She beat your house team loads of times. Not that my dad wasn't a good player."
