Never Be Alone

*Shawn's POV*

"Morning poop breath." Aaliyah says as i walk in the kitchen.

"Square up." I laugh and find some orange juice.

"I'm going to miss you." Aaliyah pouts.

I'm leaving in an hour for New York City. I want more than anything for my family, Avia an all of my other friends to come, but they can't. All they can do is drop me off at the airport. Don't get me wrong, I love my career but I hate having to leave all of my loved ones behind.

"I'll miss you more trust me." I reply.

Avia's POV

I wake up to my stupid alarm. I get up and get ready for dropping off Shawn.

 "Morning Sunshine!" my dad says.

"Morning" I smile and wipe my crusty ass eyes.

I rummage through the fridge and find a bagel. 

"We really need to go shopping" I say looking over at my mother.

"Whatever honey, I'll do that today, just go get ready.

I throw on my jeans and a hoodie. I tie my hair in a messy but on fleek af ponytail. i do that trying to keep a conversation with Chelsea my girl best friend.

Chelsea: so you and shawn are gonna be in a car together,next to eachother, so close together... this sounds suspicious lol

Me: shut up chels haha we're just friends rn. Plus, im sure he doesnt have any feelings for me 

Chelsea: I bet he does. whatever just go have fun booger xoxo

Me:*rolls eyes* xoxo

I put on my vans and head out when i hear The Mendes' family Lincoln mini van horn. (a/n idek if thats what their car is but whatever.) 

I say bye to my parents and leave.

"Shawn!" I yell running out to the car. 

"hey bug!" he says.

"hi Mr. and Mrs. Mendes" I smile.

"Hey sweetie" Mr Manny says.

 His family was like my second family. I hop in and wish the car ride takes forever. I have so many things to tell him and its been like 12 hrs. since we've seen each other. I sit in the middle because Aaliyah and Shawn both want me next to them.

We talk and talk.

"Were you serious about that letter thing?" I just have to ask.

"Why wouldn't I be?" He looks at me.

"no reason." i smile.

"Every week, I'll send a letter and sometimes a package." he grins.

"I can't wait." I say.

"Oh! Here," he hands me a box.

Inside there's a necklace there are words engraved on the silver charm.

'When you miss me, close your eyes. I may be far but never gone.'

Mrs. Mendes looks at me through the mirror and gives me a smile and raised eyebrow. she mouths the words " Shawn likes someone."  I laugh. Which makes her laugh.

"Aw this is beautiful." I feel a tear slip down my cheek.

"So you'll Never Be Alone" Shawn says.

I get long warm arms wrapped around me.

"OOOOOOOOOOOOOO" Aaliyah coos an laughs.

we all laugh.

"And look here" Shawn says pulling out his necklace.  The charm is exactly the same but his is on a dog tag chain.

"it looked more manly like this" he laughs.

At the airport, we all shed our tears. Shawn pulls me aside when his family is buying  snacks. I look up at his face with a tear rolling down his cheek. He pulls me in by my waist and I wrap my arms around him. Before I could say a word, I feel a pair warm soft lips blissfully land on mine. 

"Shawn I-..." I try and say.

Before i could finish he had more to say. 

"Avia, I love you so much. When i get home, I want to be more than friends." He says. 

Is this boy really asking me to be his girlfriend now? (A/N This fool lol.)

"Shawn, this is the wrong time." I say pushing away.

"Uh... you're right, I'm sorry." He nervously scratches his head.

I give him a peck on the cheek and a tight hug.

"Promise you'll text me everyday?" He asks.

"Promise" I offer him my pinky.

We just laugh.

When his flight is called, we are still holding hands. 

"I don't want to let go" He says sadly.

"Me neither." I say.

" I love you Avia" He says.

"I love you too"I say.

As he approaches the ticket lady and starts to walk away, still holding my hand, he lets go when our arms can't reach. He looks back one last time and I watch him walk further and further away. Even When he's out of sight, I'm still looking at where he once was, until i feel a hand on my shoulder. 

"Avia darling let's go" Mrs. Mendes says.

I talk to Aaliyah the whole car ride home and always glance at the empty seat Shawn once sat in.

Shawn's POV

I board the plane and find my seat. When the plane takes off, I go through my playlists.

I click it and throughout the song, all i could think about was Avia.

'When you fall asleep tonight, just remember that we lay under the same stars,'
